Google to launch Web Browser September 3rd

XboxOZ360 | September 02, 2008 | News | PC Mac Company
An interesting item has just popped up, with the news that Google is releasing a web browser to combat Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE).
Slip along and check it out.
Well Google Chrome was supposed to be a secrete and released via online comic on the 3rd September. But like all things on the net, it was “leaked” (purposefully or not) to the waiting public today from an “Anonymous Source”.

You just have to love those anonymous sources . . . must be a very common name these days, as just about everyone has the same name on forums, blogs and internet comments.

Well google had to come out fighting, and they have, and by the sounds of it and judging by the extensive comic showing what they have done with Chrome, it will definitely give IE a run for its money.

Microsoft Windows is by far the most popular operating system out there, preinstalled on pretty much every system sold at retail. There is no way any other browser can ever give Internet Explorer a run for its money for the simple fact that it ships with Windows. It's possible to make a sizable dent (see Mozilla's Firefox or even Apple's Safari for that matter), but never enough to take over Microsoft's market domination.

      Go Google, though!

Yes, quite true, and so many just blindly use IE without even knowing they have other options and complain bitterly about their internet experience.

I'm an Apple user, and while Safari is good, FF3 is by far 10 leaps ahead of it, but once Snow Leopard is released later this year (next OS) then hopefully Safari will be back on par.

But it'll have a lot to do if it wants to get a foot hold in the browser market (Chrome that is), as FF3 is probably one of the best known 3rd party browsers out there. Their user-created software is awesome, as is their community in solving issues or even creating an app for someone.

Much like the Wordpress community actually.

Allowing extensions for Firefox was one of the best moves Mozilla has ever made. But try downloading the Safari 4 Developer Preview. It's ridiculously fast.

Google is cool (I'm a Gmail user), but I think I'm sticking to Firefox as far as web browsing goes.

Planning on giving it a try (posts about it on the Loungin' thread, and the comic, have given me something to think about).

I hope the have Answer-Tips type of plugin eventually, I use that extensively. I don't use much else on FF2 >_>

Nothing will ever defeat the beast that is Firefox, but I'm sure being Google they'll do decently.

I don't care what you say about the dominating beast that is FireFox. Chrome is definitely at FireFox's level. Though in the end, it's your general preference. Do you prefer... more customization? Or addons galore? Perhaps you're better suited for the sleek, simplistic look, and the fastest Internet you will ever see. While FireFox allows you to goof around with everything, Chrome gets the job done, and done real damn well.

    Really, it just depends.

This is the best Web Browser for me. It is ridiculously fast and Incognito mode is so totally FTFW!

Internet Explorer is so slow for me and even opening Tabs on it you have to wait 4 seconds but on Chrome it pretty much opens the Tab as soon as you click on it! =D

Well it's not available for Mac yet, so there's no way I can use it or any Mac user, so FF3 is the way to go until Chrome is released for us to try out.
