The wait might almost be over for Kingdom Hearts fans. According to a recent issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine, "Kingdom Hearts III is currently in development as a PS3 exclusive and will be announced at [Tokyo Game Show]".
This is only a rumor at the moment, but that hasn't stopped fans from holding their breaths in excitement at the possibility of the game finally being announced and what consoel it will be for.

TGS will begin on October the 9th.

Tagline above says rumour, but really, we'd be surprised if either of these things didn't take place. The latest issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine (not sure whether it's the British or Australian edition) is making its way to letterboxes, and in the mag's rumour section is the following: "Kingdom Hearts III is currently in development as a PS3 exclusive and will be announced at TGS". Seeing as Kingdom Hearts I & 2 were PS2 exclusive, that's hardly a stretch. And with Kingdom Hearts II being nearly three years old, we're well overdue for a third game. Stay tuned, TGS kicks off in just over a month.

But who would be working on it? They have BBS, 358/2, and Coded all being worked on, and Nomura and co. are working on Versus XIII.

At least some people on the Internet are still sane.

I'm sure they have some people working on pre-production. Nomura could be a part-time director for now. It'll move slowly until Versus is done.

Even if it is announced there will be next to no development for years. I'd rather they hold onto it and announce it after Versus when they've at least made a start

It's only been around a year (or two) and a couple of months, not 3-5 years for home and it's initial announcement.

I suppose it's very possible... Though I have to agree that they probably won't be working seriously on the game for years.

KH made by Tecmo just wouldn't be right.

Wishful thinking. With all the other projects SE is working on, I don't think their budget can support another game, especially not one as big as KH3.

SE can state it's "currently in development" without actually needing to put resources on it. It's just a general statement of commitment to produce said item.

    I'm glad it's a PS3 exclusive.

So was Final Fantasy XIII... but it soon changed to a multiplatform game.

Shhhh, don't give them any ideas!!!

It's not as if Squenix doesn't have enough 360 exclusive titles anyway.

        Final Blade Sep 6, 08
Krunal that argument doesn't work for KH3, you do realize who's in charge of that KH3 right?

        ZING!!

Exactly the same man behind Versus who swears his allegence to the PS3 and doesn't like 360. So its nearly good as gold this will end up Exclusive from that alone.

Also I like to point out while they may state this now, the game won't even launch til later 2010 or middle 2011 so its nothing to get excited about...really.

If Squeenix wanted to make KH3 multiplatform, Nomura's hatred for 360 isn't going to stop them. Money trumps Nomura's opinion in the Squeenix world.

Final Blade, I hope your right, but unfortunately money looks at no morales and has it's own way of F'ing things up for us gamers wanting a good EXCLUSIVE on a console, so that the console may prosper...

Again you do realize that they're not going to pressure the man who's in charge of both Versus and Kingdom Hearts if he doesn't want them to go multiplatform right?

Think about it, if that was the case GG why isn't Versus going to multiplatform? Tell me why they're not forcing him? Maybe it has something to do with the fact its his TITLE and his GAME?
Thats one of the main reasons why its not happening, and I don't ever see KH3 ever turning out the same, not when KH numbered series has and probably always be with Nomura while he rides Sony's PS3. Again Im just saying, If Versus isn't going to be multiplatform cause he's the man incharge of it, then KH3 isn't going to happen. The PS3 is already looks great and by the time KH3 starts in development, I think the PS3 will have a good amount of fanbase to override any decision that isn't from Nomura.

While I think Square would override Nomura's decision if it came to it there is another reason it likely will stay exclusive. The fanbase. Most people on the 360 will have no idea what the hell is going on with nobodies, the darkness, the keyblade or any of that shit. And while the Wii would make more sense in that department (what with the games on the DS and GBA) technolgically it has no chance. Unless Square dump the PS3 altogether which I doubt they would do

Good Lord, is it really so bad if KH3 multiplats? Geez, what's with fans these days--swearing allegiance to consoles as if their life depended on it.

        Krunal Sep 8, 08
My £380 depend on it... (thats $670 for those that don't know). Also going multiplatform risks them discontinuing the series on the PS3. Just look at Ace Combat 6, it never exactly went multiplatform, however the latest game in the series was XBOX360 exclusive.

It's Square-Enix. They don't know what "exclusive" means these days (read: Final Fantasy XIII).

Well, less exclusives means less reasons to keep a PS3. So yes, exclusivity is important.

Well, outside of Squenix's obvious favoritism, as well as their blatant lies, I don't think we'll see much more "exclusive stealing" anymore. Not as much as before, anyway.

    Duality_18 Sep 4, 08
I just dont like how they tell us that keeping exclusive is just loosing money, but yet the 360 has like what, 3 squarenix exclusives.... compared to our what... none atm.

Squenix is being very weird this generation. They've given us these "reasons" that we all know are absolutely false, and they're being more greedy than I think they've ever been (charging for demos).

I'm just hoping Sony can turn a PS3 profit soon, then they can start bartering for exclusivity with money.
