GamersDailyNews: EA causes chaos in London with £20,000 fuel giveaway

Hobgob1in | September 05, 2008 | News | Playstation 3 XBOX 360
Electronic Arts has come under fire for a publicity stunt in London when it gave away £20,000 of free fuel to promote Mercenaries 2: World in Flames launch. The Finsbury Park area was thrown into chaos as motorists swarmed on the petrol station for their £40 of free fuel.
Lynne Featherstone, MP for Hornsey and Wood Green, criticised EA as ’irresponsible and dangerous, saying, "Whilst a lucky few might have got free petrol, hundreds of residents have faced misery".

Fuel is currency in Mercs 2, it ties in quite well, not to mention i don't think it was quite the giveaway that was the advertisement but merely simulating absolute chaos in reality.

Lol interesting. Though in reality, EA always stirs Chaos so this isn't anything of a surprise.
