Xbox Blamed For Burning Down Apartment

KyLeDaWg | September 07, 2008 | News | Xbox
An original Xbox was blamed as the source of a fire that ended up causing a lot of damage to a family's apartment in Clio, Michigan. Their apartment was above a cafe that they own. Unfortunately, their insurance only covers fire damage for their cafe, and not their apartment above it.
CLIO, Michigan -- The Xbox had been a constant source of joy for Jennifer Walter's family.

In the seven years since her 22-year-old son brought it home, her three children had used the squat black console to play video games, watch movies and listen to music.

Now it is being blamed for ruining their home.

Two weeks ago, the family was startled awake about 3 a.m. by fire alarms in their apartment above the Whistle Stop Cafe, which they own.

When the smoke cleared, firefighters traced the cause of the fire to a recreation room off the basement where the Xbox sat.

Investigators concluded the Xbox -- which may have been on as long as four days -- had overheated and set a nearby spiral notebook on fire.

That really really does suck, but this is what happens when you don't follow the instructions. There's no use blaming the Xbox or Microsoft, they have instructions and warnings in their little booklets or whatever saying to have good ventilation and not block the vents.

"Breaking news, PS3 has burned down a house for being on for months of folding @ home. Its Sony's fault and the folding @ home creators. Im going to sue"

^ Oh and if no one got this, its purely sarcasm. Made it up.

Anyway you can't blame MS for this, its not like they're the ones for leaving it on for 4 days. It sucks their apartment wasn't covered.
