New Metallica Album to be DLC on Guitar Hero 3

SSJ3 Trunks | September 08, 2008 | News | Playstation 3 XBOX 360
The newest Metallica album will be able to download on Guitar Hero 3. It will cost 1440 Microsoft Points with all 10 songs on the pack. This is for the 360 and PS3 versions of the game.
It was announced at E3 last July that Metallica's new album, Death Magnetic, would make its way in full to Guitar Hero III as downloadable content, and now Activision Blizzard has released new details about pricing and availability: The DLC will be made available on the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network concurrently with the release of the album this Friday, September 12, for $17.99 (1440 Microsoft Points).

In addition to the standard 10 songs on the album, the Guitar Hero III DLC will also come with two exclusive renditions of "Suicide & Redemption" that have alternate, extended solos recorded by band members James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett. And as was also previously revealed, the album will be forward compatible with the upcoming Guitar Hero World Tour -- the same DLC you purchase for GHIII will work in the new game, despite the addition of drums, bass and vocals.

I wish they would do this with more bands.I'm not a fan of Metallica so I won't be getting it.But it should happen a lot more.

Bring out a Disturbed album and I'm there.

$18.00 for 12 songs. No thanks. I'm a bit jaded after forking over cash for shit to the record industry for years.

I'm pretty sure the main reason it's so expensive as DLC is because it's Metallica moreso than 12 songs.

But keep in mind that 1 Metallica song is the length of 2 songs from most other bands.

The reason it is so expensive is because each song has to be meticulously coded to be played in every difficulty, it must be pretty damn hard to make 12 songs all of which over 5 minutes long most of which all over 7 minutes long, have all the notes in the right place on easy, medium, hard and expert, on rythm, lead and bass guitar this is a substancial update it's not like you are buying the standard CD version.

I get that, and I wouldn't complain if I was able to get the MP3 album as well as the DLC.....but not going to pay over $30 to play and listen to Metallica because of having to buy an album and DLC.

Downloading this for World Tour (when it comes out)

Going to use it as an 'appetiser' to Guitar Hero: Metallica

Songs are normally 160 points each. 10x160=1600 It's a discount, stop complaining about it.

$30 for 10 songs is a bit much for me, but I'll still get it. I just love both Metallica and Death Magnetic too much to pass.

Honestly, I am surprised that they licensed their music to this franchise at all. Even in GH3.

Usually Metallica is very stingy when it comes to this sort of thing - they must be getting a pretty penny out of it.

If you have seen Metallica recently in interviews they are a bunch of guys who really do not give a shit anymore, this is a band that sued Napster that only a week ago were happy that people could download their new album for free in advance of the release date. It will not surprise me if Rock Band/Rock Band 2 gets this too eventually, Metallica are just a different band now than they were.
