Heavy Rain: If Your Girl Dies, The Story Will Keep Going

Linkin Park Fan | September 10, 2008 | News | Playstation 3
In almost every video game there is one main character and he is through out the whole story. If you die, you simply respawn and the story continues with that character. But with Heavy Rain its going to be a little different, if you main girl character dies, she dies for good. That means you have to start as someone else, but the story will keep on going. Just the girl isn't alive anymore.
We thought we imagined this at the time, but Quantic Dream’s David Cage did definitely confirm at Games Convention that if you get the main character killed, you carry on playing the game’s central plot.

The protagonist is the girl showed in the SCEE press conference at the show (pictured), a journalist investigating some disappearances.

“I can’t really tell you too much about what the story’s about or how it’s going to work with the characters, all I can tell you that your character - the main character - can die, and the story will continue,” said Cage in a back-room demo the day after the conference.

I can officially say... I'm sold. I'm getting this game, it just looks really interesting. I can't wait to try to play this game after having killed the lead the first moment that I can

I probably don't want her to die. I will probably will get attached to that character. I just hope I don't make some stupid move that ends up killing her then I have to play as someone else.

It's better than a character that can magically respawn especially after the game states they are aiming for realism... Last i saw when you die in reality you do not respawn, so this is a good feature and it actually punishes those that suck at games which is a throwback to classic games so for me i love it.

Funny, considering GTA4 was aiming for realism and how did that go?

Point is, its a game, and games aren't 100% realistic. Thats fact. And tbh, what if you're attached to that player like most are in games? Best example is Aeris in FF7, when she died I was distraught cause I liked her alot. She was the best player and healer on my roster line-up. Her limits was awesome.

Who says you have to play with someone else? Maybe you play it as a ghost? Who knows with a game like this.

Sounds like a really interesting idea. I bet there will be some kind of trophy for finishing the game without losing the girl.
