Entropay No Longer An Option For PS3 Users

Krunal | September 12, 2008 | News | Playstation 3
For those that don't know what Entropay actually is, let me tell you - It's a pre-paid, virtual credit card, which allows people to add funds from to the card from anywhere... the advantage of Entropay is that if your in the UK, you can essentially get a US credit card, and then add funds to the store via the pre-paid credit card.

However here is the downer - Sony have made some changes which will now stop the card working on the Playstation Network, so if you have one of these and were hoping to use the card to pay for purchases of items in the US store, unfortunately, that is no longer a possibility.

It should also be noted that if you've already registered an Entropay card to your PSN, then it'll work fine, this new rule is more for those that try to register the card now.
We apologise for the inconvenience.
Although our cards accepted by a vast majority of online merchants, please note Playstation has changed their payment mechanism and is unable to process payments with prepaid cards.
Any pre-authorisations you have should be refunded within 6 working days.
Should you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

That sucks. I only use Entropay to buy DLC for Rock Band on the PSN, will have to double check to make sure it still works...

You'll be fine. If you've already registered it then it works fine, it just wont work if you try to register it now.

Who was responsible for this movement? SCEE or or is it effective in every region?

Pre-paid cards wont work on any regions from what I understand, though I don't have any pre-paid cards for me to be able to try. But it's us only then it'd be SCEA not SCEE.

It sucks for new users, but I don't have any problems.
