GamersDailyNews: Microsoft confirms UK Xbox 360 price cuts

Microsoft has today announced the UK will be receiving similar price cuts for its console as the rest of the world has recently been enjoying; further opening the Xbox 360's lead as the cheapest current generation console and making it more affordable even than the forthcoming PSP 3000.

“Xbox 360 has now sold over 20 million consoles worldwide and due to its unprecedented success, we are now able to pass on the rewards of that success to the consumer," said Neil Thompson, Senior Regional Director, Microsoft UK.

    sorry but microsoft has to be despite to give the 360 another price in the uk
    its sad i think out only 3 years and already dirt cheap

    I'm not convinced it's an entirely desperate move, although it is severe. I think they're making a big move to own Christmas, though it is kinda blatant, as you say.

    "out only 3 years" and you think a price drop is a desperation move? It's been out 3 years man. That's 30-50% of the console's lifetime. These moves aren't desperation it's pure genius. They know the PS3 isn't selling all that well, they know they have superior graphics to the Wii and that the 2 can co-exist. Now for $550 (or an equivalent in GBP) you can have 2 consoles...for the price of the PS3. They're bloody brilliant actually.

      lol i completely disagree if the ps3 is selling poorly (which it isnt) there would be no reason to lower the price and with the ps2 out 7 years is now selling for £99 the 360 out 3 years is now selling for £150 this is a despite move

        This is the arcade version, Its just a business move to secure gamers, Then sooner or later gamers who start playing alot will buy a hardrive etc, so it evens itself out.

        The elite and premiums are still the same price.
