Having just become available just hours before the new firmware update for the PS3 is up. It doesn't look to be anything special and if you have a version 2.41 or higher outside of Japan it is not even necessary and does not prompt you to download it. Strange.

Hi, everyone, I wanted to give you a heads up about PS3 firmware update (v2.43). Unlike previous updates, firmware v2.43 is specific to the Japan region, and only PS3 users there will be required to
install the update. PS3 users in all other regions will not be prompted to download v2.43. However, if you manually initiate a firmware update by clicking on “System Update” under the XMB’s Settings icon, the v2.43 update will be available, regardless of where you are located.

I'm fairly sure that we already have 2.43 anyway... hmmm after I've finished downloading the Warhawk Add-Ons I may try this to see if it comes up with anything...

Probably some region coding was messed up, who knows.

Yeah, it was to help with the Japanese video store from what I understand. Nothing for any other regions. And the Life with playstation was an accidental release that they pulled after a while.
