Peter Moore who once was at the top of the original Xbox, explains why it ended early. He said it was because of the hard drive that came in it, they couldn't lower the price a whole lot.
The decision to include a hard drive as standard meant Microsoft was unable to bring the price of the console down.
Speaking to the Guardian's Games Blog, Peter Moore, now at EA, but famous as the face of Xbox, has revealed why exactly the software juggernaut 'prematurely' abandoned the original Xbox.
"The hard drive in every Xbox killed us; we we're still selling it at $199 and the hard drive was like $70. That's why we prematurely left the original Xbox, because the more we were selling - there was still great demand - it was killing us, and there was no way to bring the price down," said Moore.

I love the Xbox. I have a load of games and music saved on that thing and it still says I have thousands of blocks of memory on it. That's the one advantage Xbox had over PS2 and their crappy, overpriced memory cards.
Until they make games like Deus Ex and Fight Night Round 2 BC for 360, the Xbox will always be hooked up.
