Monster Hunter 3 Details from Famitsu

Akira_EX | September 17, 2008 | News | Wii
In the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, there was a full nine-page article on Capcom's upcoming Wii online action game, Monster Hunter 3, with its first real bit of information since its announcement back in 2007.

Famitsu's article has two interviews: one with producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Kaname Fujioka. Monster Hunter 3 will have underwater hunting available, with most of your hunter skillset usable. While underwater, instead of the stamina gauge, an air gauge will be utilized that will deplete with time. The game's main monster is a large underwater dragon that can survive on land, so players will be able to take him on in either location.

Monster Hunter 3 will also be online, completely with a lobby for chatting and meeting with other players. Actual hunting will be played in four-person parties.

There is no set release date for Monster Hunter 3. However, it will be playable at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2008. Scans are courtesy of Wii @ Everyday.
Capcom's been pretty quiet following the shocking announcement of Monster Hunter 3's platform switch from the PS3 to the Wii. Now, with more than 2.5 million sales of the recent PSP version firmly establishing the series as one of Japan's biggest, the Wii version has at long last come back into the spotlight with a huge blowout in the latest Famitsu.

This is still alive? I figured it had to have been canned for sure.

Underwater battles seem a little gimmicky though

I love this franchise,.... and can not wait for it to finally come.... wait... wait... WAAAIT... this is going to be on the Wii and not the PS3? Wtf.. I love my wii, but the PS3 needs an online monster hunter! ARGH! Must find the producer of this at Capcom and shake him, violently shake him!

(though, in all honesty, Wii could really use a game like this)
