Akira_EX | September 19, 2008 | News | Wii
For the skeptics out there who really still didn't believe that the newest Vs. fighting game from Capcom, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom was headed to the Wii, well, you can finally start believing, as all major Japanese newssites now have confirmed that the fighting game is headed to the Wii. The game will release on December 11th, and will retail for 7340 yen.

Tatsunoko is a Japanese animation company responsible for such popular anime like Gatchaman, Casshan, and Yatterman. Capcom will all see characters drawn from more of its franchises than just its fighting series.

It is a 2.5D fighter, sporting 3D, almost cel-shaded like graphics with the bread-and-butter 2D fighting gameplay. Battles consist of two-on-two fights, with characters being able to switch at-will, and can perform their special moves at the same time at the expense of an extra special bar.

Confirmed list of characters so far, to whet your appetite:
Tatsunoko:
Ken the Eagle - Science Ninja Team Gatchaman
Casshan - Neo-Human Casshan
Tekkaman - Tekkaman: The Space Knight
Yatterman-1 - Yatterman
Hurricane Polymar - Hurrican Polymar
Gold Lightan - Golder Warrior Gold Lightan
Doronjo - Yatterman
Karas - Karas

Capcom:
Ryu - Street Fighter
Chun-Li - Street Fighter II
Batsu Ichimonji - Rival Schools: United by Fate
Alex - Street Fighter III
Morrigan Aensland - Darkstalkers
Soki - Onimusha Dawn of Dreams
Megaman Volnutt - Mega Man Legends
PTX-40A - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition

There is no American release currently announced, although the chances of that are slim. The official site for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom can be found here. The Arcade version is on show at the 46th Amusement Machine Show in Makuhari Messe, Chiba currently going on.

Woah, interesting crossover to say the least. It's too bad that it may never see an international release, though.
