Metal Gear Solid Existance?

Silver Mirror | September 19, 2008 | News | PC Playstation 2
The Metal Gear Solid franchise is definitely not over and this sign reinforces it more than ever. Recently Konami trademarked the name Metal Gear: Existence as well as the name Existence separately on a Japanese Trademark database. Both are intended for use with videogames.
Solid Snake’s story is finished, but that doesn’t mean Konami is going to seal the Metal Gear Solid franchise in an early grave. The first sign of a new Metal Gear Solid game comes from the Japanese Trademark database where Konami registered Metal Gear Existence with the boring image on the right. It’s made to be used with video games so it’s likely, very likely, the name of a future Metal Gear Solid game.

    what the hell.
they can still use snake! he's only been in less than 10 games. he hardly did anything in MGS2.
there is a 7 year gap between MGS2 and MGS4. a 4 year gap between MGS1 and MGS2. there are big (don't know) gaps between MG/MG2 and MGS1.
Raiden has a family, and he's better as a side character with kick-ass knife/sword skills.
mabey we can play as Liquid Ocelot or Liquid Snake, see what they do in the times between MG2 and MGS1, and After MGS2-MGS4

I thought Metal Gear Solid Existence was the name of the cinematic DVD that shipped with Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence?

Existence is the third disc in Subsistence. I don't think it's "Metal Gear Solid: Existence". If it is, there's still a difference. "Metal Gear Existence" drops "Solid".

Metal Gear isn't Metal Gear Solid. Come on now.

Either way we knew the Metal Gear series would continue.

Interesting that it's called "Metal Gear Solid Existence" and not just "Metal Gear Existence". It sounds very spin-off-ish. Moar Solid Snake? (I like Paper Mario Dude's idea of showing what Snake was doing between the respective MGS games. There's plenty of Snake's history that has not yet been covered).

And what if he was doing nothing? Between MG2 and MGS he was supposed to be living in Alaska retired and doing nothing important until he was reactivated. After that he supposedly founded Philanthropy with Otacon to get rid of the knock of Metal Gears. But that doesn't mean there has to be a heck of a lot of action during that time.

After all story wise the big exciting times in his life are suppose to take place during the games. The rest of it would be his normal day to day routine. Just because there are gaps doesn't mean there is anything to tell really. I'm fine with Snake's story being done. And I would much prefer that they started over with a completely new cast to be honest. Sure you could tie the MGS cast in some how just to appease long time fans. But going in a new direction isn't a bad idea as long as you keep the main gamplay points there.

Although two things to keep in mind though when going a new direction. You have to make the character as bad ass as Snake for people to like him. And you have to do so in a believable way. That is part of why people didn't like Raiden. He was to green and a little whiny. Green is ok, but the character has to be tough and ready to do what needs to be done. And the player has to like and believe the character can do it.

Everywhere I've looked has had it as Metal Gear Solid Existence (other than your description).

Probably a typo on their counts as well, thinking more MGS is going to be made.

I highly doubt the majority of gaming sites would make the same error. And even then, it's not a typo, it's incorrect information. Metal Gear Soldi would be a typo.
