Well, LittleBigPlanet isn't perfect, as much as we hoped it would be. But the feature to create a level with your friends online is not available straight out of the box. It is a feature that will come in a major update some time after release. How ever, offline 4 player create mode is available from the get-go. This was explained by Sam_Protagonist, a devaloper over at the Playstation website.

This is correct.

The ability to create with your friends online will come as part of the first major update after the game is released. Offline creating with up to 4 people on one PlayStation 3 however is available right from the get go.

The next question will undoubtedly be "when is the first update due" and right now there is no specific time set at the moment, however with the game having gone gold, the team at Media Molecule are already hard at work on content for the game after its release, with online multiplayer creating top of the list.

I suppose this is what happens when games get pushed to completion.

At least it'll be sorted A.S.A.P though.

Oh Jeez, I can see the hordes of 6/10s from critics just because of this. The game has trillions of truckloads of hype; if it's not perfect from release, it'll be attacked like hyenas to a corpse. I can see it now: critic says "5/10 = the online mode is a disappointment; the main factor of the game being sorely missed on release hurts this game almost to failure."

Push the damn game back if it's not complete! I shouldn't have to wait for a feature that should be included straight from release!

If Sony was the one who pushed the release date, they need to get some quick torture before continuing their PS3 campaign.

I can easily see the reviews like this, too. However, most reviewers don't bother with shit.

Reviewers won't care as decent ones will have played the mode already and know what it's like they can review a feature that will be added.

I'm just wondering how long we'll have to wait. If it's a few days after release, that's fine, but if it's measured in weeks, then that's an issue.

Reviewers aren't gonna put me off this game.

I wasn't going to make a level straight away anyway, so thats fine with me.

This better be a free update, too.

I imagine it will be Xenctuary, since they're pushing it as a feature, and was originally intended to be out of the box anyhow.

Am I the only one that doesn't really care? I think I'd prefer to design levels myself. I CBA to find people, and organize a 'here is what we'll do' type thing >_< Would be much easier to do that sort of stuff in person (so offline, which IS out of the box). Not that I'd do that either, since I don't know anybody really, offline >_>

Even if you don't want to actually create a masterpiece level with your friends, it's always fun to be able to build and destroy scenery during gameplay.

Will you still be able to download other people's levels straight out of the box?

      Sayyed Sep 21, 08
no, you gotta wait a month for the update to do that.

        BlackLabel Sep 22, 08
Wrong, you can still download levels this just means that online co-op creation isn't in at the moment, you can still download levels, you can still create levels with local friends and you can still play online with these friends you just can't create anything with them yet.

    Zerpent Sep 21, 08
I honestly didn't even know that you could create levels online with your friends to begin with, so I'm still getting this game regardless of what some shitty reviewers might say.

I might hold off on getting the game then.

I assume that later versions of the game would have it on disc.

I'd rather not use hard drive space if I don't have to.

Well, I'm sure the single player mode in the game is...diverse enough to wait till the update? Needless to say this is a bad bad tactical mistake...between a delay on the game or in the online, I'm guessing they were pretty sneaky there.

Play, Share, Create...no wait, Play, Create...you'll share later.

    Bale Fire Sep 22, 08
You can still share, just not create the level with friends online. I'm sure it'll be available only a week or two after release. They have like a month before release as it is. I can deal with this without much trouble.

Well, that's pretty much made my mind up on if I'm going to be buying this close to release.

    Final Blade Sep 22, 08
Big deal, it doesn't have the online Co-Op thing at the start. That shouldn't change your decision to buy the game. >.>
