It seems that the next Mortal Combat game will be really cool and realistic,

Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has explained that his next game is "going to be a real serious Mortal Kombat" in an interview with CVG.

Speaking about what's coming after Armageddon, he said the new title will be "a lot more realistic-looking... we're not going to joke around in this one, it's not going to be like jokes".

It suggests a more edgy style for the next Mortal Kombat game, Boon reaffirming that it'll be "a lot grittier, dirtier" than previous titles in the series.

"It's going to be a fighting game, definitely, but after that anything can go", he added, talking about the fact that he's starting from scratch for the new game.

I'm sure a lot of us Mortal Kombat fans have heard about this before. I hope they keep at least some of the old characters.

I knew it wouldn't be the end of the series. I mean, a god was crowned at the end of Armaggeddon. Most of the warriors dies, so they might need new characters. Or if they choose to go a different direction, they can bring a lot of people back. I just want a nice story/Konquest mode.

Mortal Kombat will probably continue until the creators decide that they've milked all that they're going to milk out of the franchise. Once that happens, people are going to want to start producing their own spin-offs. It doesn't surprise me one bit that Armageddon wasn't the end.
