In the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, it has been revealed that Capcom will be porting yet another Resident Evil game to the Wii: this time, it is the Resident Evil remake that appeared on the GameCube in 2002. REmake will support the GameCube controller, and currently the only controls known right now is that you can draw your weapon by shaking the Wii Remote.

Resident Evil will release on December 25th in Japan. Capcom has previously ported Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 0 to the Wii. Magazine picture courtesy of Wii @ Everyday.

This is good, but only if it comes outside of Japan.

I never got Zero or the Remake because Wii is my first nintendo product. I really want them!

Thats good. I know that RE4 did really well on the Wii, so lets hope that they use the over-the-shoulder view.

Wow...Capcom's being shameless now. Doesn't the Wii have backwards compatibility???

Over the shoulder camera wouldn't work much on REmake, most of the game takes place in tight corridors and you aren't overwhelmed by a bunch of enemies at once either.

Well, you've got a point. But its not as annoying as the older camera view.

        Well there's the problem...

You probably never played the first Resident Evil game or you wouldn't be saying that. RE wasn't a shooter UNTIL RE4 came out, it's survival horror not a third person shooter.

The older camera view was fantastic! And no shadows made you almost predict what was offscreen; It made me really tense lol.

Very true, but... and this is why I really couldn't get into the series until 4... the aim controls when you did have to fight were waaay too clunky for me. I remember first seeing it (when it first came out) at a friend's place. He hands me the controls and simply says "walk down the hall"... the dogs come, and I couldn't point down to aim, was frustrated I couldn't turn fast enough... And said to myself: You know, if I was in this situation, I would have hauled butt (trying to keep my comments PG, sorry)... why can't I fleeeee?

Controls for fixed camera angles works that way. Obviously not made for everyone unless you gave it time. The game usually used auto aiming you wouldn't have trouble when you aim at an enemy. For example, that dog...you probably could've shot it down before it came at you if you just aimed forward and shot. But like I said, the gameplay is probably a lot complicated for a lot of people.

Resident Evil 1 would lose the majority of it's scares with an over-the-shoulder camera view. Quite frankly, the early RE games work best with a fixed camera.

(I'm guessing you were playing the earlier games with the "Analogue" control system, Daigoji_Gai? That's always been a bitch to control, imo. I always switch to "Digital" controls - the games are far easier to control that way).

The Port could be because of the popularity of the Wii relative to the Gamecube, and How that owners will want to experience the Wii Resident Evil's.

This is really sad now. They've resorted to milking it as much as they can, and why the hell has the PlayStation, the console that Resident Evil debuted on, still not seen the first remake?

Maybe Sony forgot to pay up to get some goodies of RE.

Pretty simple really. Development costs must be dirt cheap when comparing development costs between the PS3 and the Wii. And seeing as they're just adding a few motion controls (which weren't even needed in the first place) you're bound to have people that will buy the game regardless ALL THE WHILE development teams are having a good time just redoing the same damn game.

That's why I said PlayStation. They never even released it on PS2.

Isnt Resident Evil Zero for Wii only in Japan?
Because if this game is to follow suit like Zero, then we wont see this title I would presume.
