As posted earlier EA was threatening to ban members for complaining about DRM and SecuROM issues in their official forum, which could also lead to banning them in game.

Senior members of the EA moderating staff have cleared the air and responded with how this practice is "absolutely not true" and not "in-line with EA's moderation policy".

Evidently somebody outstepped his bounds when making the initial statement.

More responsible forum moderators tried to clear the air yesterday and EA itself let us know that the warning was completely out of line and, more importantly, totally inaccurate.

"These comments are absolutely not true or in-line with EA’s moderation policy," an EA spokesperson told Kotaku. "They were made by an over-zealous community volunteer who does not work for EA."

"Anyone who looks at the boards will clearly see that DRM and other issues are freely discussed on the Spore forums, alongside other topics about the game," a statement read. So have at it, kids. The finer points of anti-piracy schemes are up for discussion!

EA damage control, gotta love it. But also shows part of the problem having community volunteers run forums... lack of accountability (or this can be seen as a benefit giving the company deniability as EA has done)

I would like to think that it would be lack of accountability, but honestly - the latter is what is letting them jump for joy right now.

I am not happy with EAs behavior around this whole situation, and if they think it didn't affect me as a consumer - then they are dead wrong.

Correct me if im wrong here, but they did nothing wrong, it was a stupid idiotic mistake on the moderator part on the forum. In fact ACY3 posted a link on the other article stating he's been demoted for lies.
