CVG noticed that when you start up your WipEoutHD game, that there are some serious health warnings. It warns that if you have epilepsy you shouldn't be playing it, and also to take breaks every 15 minutes. Here is the warning:

"Always play in a well lit environment. Take regular breaks, 15 minutes every hour. Discontinue playing if you experience dizziness, nausea, fatigue or have a headache.

"Some individuals are sensitive to flashing or flickering lights or geometric shapes and patterns, may have an undetected epileptic condition man may experience epileptic seizures when watching television or playing videogames.

"Consult your doctor before playing videogames if you have an epileptic condition and immediately should you experience any of the following symptoms whilst playing; altered vision, muscle twitching, other involuntary movement, loss of awareness, confusion and / or convulsions."

After we revealed the reason behind the WipEout HD delay was that it failed "the epilepsy tests so much that it has to be re-engineered" and Sony's eventual response that it takes "consumer safety very seriously", the game is finally upon us.

We've played the review code to death that Sony passed along a while ago but we've now got WipEout HD installed on our PS3s at home via PSN.

The health warnings recommend a 15 minute break every hour, not a break every 15 minutes. This should be something you do with all videogames.

Which no one ever does. I quite regularly play in excess of 2.5 hours without breaks. On weekends that number increases to nearly 5 hours.

That's pretty bad dude. It's not that difficult to stop playing after an hour.

I'm just saying, for normal people, the warning doesn't mean much.

And when I say 5 hours on weekends, I mean spread out over the two days. Besides, my daily hours during the work/school-week have decresed to about an hour and a half since I got my electric guitar.

Even if you are "normal", you're still affecting your eyesight. Plus it's pretty unhealthy to just sit there staring at a screen for all that time without a break.

Doesn't every videogame have a warning like that regardless if its Wipeout HD or not?
Its just usually in tiny text that shows up for 2 seconds or in the user's manual.

Yeah all video games have that warning.

Yeah, I was going to say that >_>

It is a usual industry standard warning actually, they're all phrase pretty much like that.

But yeah, I remember hearing about them having to rebuild the game (like, from scratch), because it failed epilepsy testings pretty bad or something....

I think what makes WipEout HD most notable is the fact that their E3 trailer was pulled due to epilepsy fears. It was also rumoured to be the source of the title's delay.

Super DragonballZ game had that same exact warning, the one you copied.
