At Level-5 Vision 2008, Level-5 showed off one of its new titles that was first unveiled in this week's issue of Weekly Famitsu: Ninokuni for the Nintendo DS. This RPG will be a collaboration between publisher/developer Level-5 alongside famed animation studio Studio Ghibli, from which you probably have seen timeless Hayao Miyazaki classics such as Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away.

The story of Ninokuni revolves around a 13-year-old boy who through his actions had caused the death of his mother. He is approached by a fairy who gives him a magic book that transports him to the world of Ninokuni, a parallel world where he will encounter familiar faces in new positions.

The game will also come packaged with said magic book, filled with a bestiary, game hints, and information that players will need to progress through the game.

Ninokuni is expected to release in 2009. The game's official site can be found here.

Sure are! But like ZOMG! Studio Ghibili AND Level 5... this could potentially be EPIC!

I hope we see more of Studio Ghibli testing the gaming waters... If the level of quality remains consistent to past works from both Level-5 and Ghibli, this could be the start of an amazing relationship.
