Director John Moore has confirmed that his latest work, a movie adaptation of the Max Payne videogame series, has been given a PG-13 rating with little in the way of scene cuts.

Moore also confirms that a "Gamer Dedicated Cut" will be included on the DVD release of the movie, a slower paced and more atmospheric version of the theatrical release.

Max Payne will be showing in North American cinemas October 17.

Edits have been made to the upcoming film version of Max Payne to bring it down from an R rating to a more traditionally box-office-friendly PG-13, but according to the director John Moore, the changes aren't as bad as we might think.

They're not literal, they are embodied metaphors for the sake of cinematography.

Yeah, that's what I was gonna say. I think they're just referencing "the demons in his life". The movie actually looks pretty good.

    PG-13?...

This may sound odd, but I'm a bit disappointed at a PG-13 rating. I was really hoping for an R rated Max Payne movie.

I think of Max Payne as a really dark and gritty story. I was kind of hoping the movie would be really graphic.

Although, I suppose the games weren't extremely graphic, so maybe this is for the best.

I was kind of hoping for some "Sin City meets The Departed" violence in this movie.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. The thing that made Max Payne so awesome wasn't just the Bullet-Time but also because of the dark story. If they adapted the story faithfully, it would've gotten an R-rating for sure.

They might be going for a more broad audience then the games. I mean maybe they want bigger crowd which can bring in more sales. Once the movie established itself as a great movie maybe then it'll evolve, if they're more sequels.

I hope you're right Final Blade.

If they make a sequel based on MP2:TFOMP, I'll be severely disappointed with a "PG-13 Vlad". I want that character to be as sinister as possible in the movie.

I'm already excited for the sequel, so I hope it actually happens.

I also hope this will bring a third installment to the Max Payne videogame series...next-gen Max Payne....I'd piss myself....
