Director John Moore has confirmed that his latest work, a movie adaptation of the Max Payne videogame series, has been given a PG-13 rating with little in the way of scene cuts.
Moore also confirms that a "Gamer Dedicated Cut" will be included on the DVD release of the movie, a slower paced and more atmospheric version of the theatrical release.
Max Payne will be showing in North American cinemas October 17.
Edits have been made to the upcoming film version of Max Payne to bring it down from an R rating to a more traditionally box-office-friendly PG-13, but according to the director John Moore, the changes aren't as bad as we might think.

This may sound odd, but I'm a bit disappointed at a PG-13 rating. I was really hoping for an R rated Max Payne movie.
I think of Max Payne as a really dark and gritty story. I was kind of hoping the movie would be really graphic.
Although, I suppose the games weren't extremely graphic, so maybe this is for the best.
I was kind of hoping for some "Sin City meets The Departed" violence in this movie.
If they make a sequel based on MP2:TFOMP, I'll be severely disappointed with a "PG-13 Vlad". I want that character to be as sinister as possible in the movie.
I'm already excited for the sequel, so I hope it actually happens.
I also hope this will bring a third installment to the Max Payne videogame series...next-gen Max Payne....I'd piss myself....
