Sony has shipped 85,000 PlayTV units to the UK

Sony has told GI that they have shipped over 85,000 PlayTV - a device that lets you record shows to the hard drive of your PS3 - units throughout the UK. Over 9,000 people pre-ordered the DVR.

Pre-orders for the peripheral were around 9000 according to Sony. Momentum is building in the run up to Christmas, with specialist and national press giving thumbs up to the device, which strengthens the PlayStation 3's status as a multimedia hub for the living room.

    I'm not getting it because i don't have an aerial. So i can't get any type of freeview without spending an extra £60-70 on a new aerial.
