Gamestop may experience a drop in video game consoles soon if the word gets out... that a local store has been storing consoles in the bathroom.

That's right, one Gamestop was found to be storing their Xbox360's and PS3's in the store's bathroom facility. Is this the kind of treatment we'd want our console to go through before purchase?

Sadly the video that one customer had made was deleted, though the reasons are unknown the statement and picture (albeit blurry) are evidence enough for concern.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't the public bathrooms- but the ones on the back for employees...

I mean your average GameStop employees aren't THAT stupid are they?

If so - find me someone who works there- I have a bridge to sell them, but first I need to use the WC.

Yeah they are, At my local gamestop they had a pile of XBOX 360's and PS3's at the front when they received a shipment with no staff their to watch them.

Surveillence cameras do wonders sometimes. But then again, if you're well prepared, it won't matter.

And to think I applied to work at a GameStop earlier today. xD

It's a good thing there aren't any public restrooms near or in my local Gamestops.

I'm pretty sure it would be staff bathroom rather than the public one for obvious reasons such as theft and stupidity in general.

I mean come on guys, it's not like they're Wallmart.

I think that most of the employees that work at Gamestop would be stupid enough to store them in a public bathroom but I don't think one exists.

Haha, pretty safe place, I guess. It doesn't bother me knowing my PS2 could have been stored there. It doesn't make a difference. =)

This would be even easier than your basic smash and grab type operation.

We are gunna need a team of about 4 or 5 guys, 2 on merch, 2 on crowd control, and a driver.

The two on merch are just gunna use the bathroom, and load up the truck from the back/window. One of the crowd control guys is going to basically keep the employees really busy (hint: try to preorder Battletoads) while the other will keep an eye on the cameras and the exit to the restroom/stock room.

This is quite do-able guys, who's with me?

Actually, being a former Gamestop employee I'd say it's pretty common. You know the really small Gamestop stores? The ones you and your friends can stand arm to arm stretched out and touch the walls? Well the back room in those places are even smaller. There's enough for a desk, a chair, a ladder, and some of the merchandise that can't fit up front. During the holiday season stores get a crap load of shipments and there just isn't enough room to put it all in one storage locker. So sometimes consoles get put in the bathroom. Granted, we put ours on a high shelf in the bathroom but a bathroom none the less.

Oh, and another little unknown secret, the bathroom is probably cleanest place in the store. Because it's one the places the upper management check out that regular customers can't get to. People are filthy.

I can't tell you how many times I had to turn people away for wanting to turn in systems and games that had well let's just say "biological matter" on them.I opened the disc tray on a PS2 that someone wanted to trade in and about 10 roaches came out.

You're more likely to get something from the used game sections than you are from a console stored in the bathroom.

I've never seen or been to a Gamestop so I'm happy.

I always use EB Games too, their prices are sometimes a little over the top but if you go there at the right times it's good.

Or just get relatives to buy your stuff, then who cares?

Wow. I always knew that whenever I bought something from GameStop, I was getting a shitty product.

It wouldn't bother me too much buying one, aslong as I didn't get one that touched the floor.

Whats there to be grossed out about? I mean its not like the console is open and shit. Its very well protected and boxed. I don't care where its been as long as its not open and works.

      Storm Sep 30, 08
Even if it means some feces particles and urination getting on the boxes? And how about the scent? It's not like the boxes are scentproof...

You ought to care more about this.

Granted, my experience can't be accounted for as law, but as I said earlier, we kept our bathroom spotless because we were the only ones that used it. It doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get all the bad stuff on your box. Anyway, you keep your tooth brush in your bathroom right? Shouldn't you be more worried about that having stuff on it rather than a box you aren't putting in your mouth?

          Storm Oct 1, 08
Actually, I don't keep my toothbrush in the bathroom, lol. It's in my room, and the bristles have a packet to cover it as well. I wash it thoroughly with hot water, brush, then wash it thoroughly again.

When the toilet flushes, the particles tend to fly all over the place, so I'd rather not keep my things there. Unless the employees at least close the lid before flushing, I'm not satisfied with picking up my game consoles there.

You completely miss my point. You think places that small is going to have room to put console places? No, I don't. Alot of places like that are small and don't have much space. As I said as long as the system works, and the box isn't open and sealed. I don't care. You buy to play the system, not taste it. You take out the console and accessories and throw out the box. Simple. I tooth brushes stay in the bathroom and I just run through it multiple times with hot water before using it.

Anyway I agree with Big Willie.

Why is it that everytime someone disagrees with you, they miss your point?

Honestly, you should care. Need I explain the toilet flushing bit again? -_-

          Final Blade Oct 1, 08
Cause you do, you shouldn't care if the box isn't open and sealed Storm. I don't care, cause again for my example before. I already know the example you use but again, I buy systems to play, and the box is protecting it. My box was wrapped in Plastic and placed in another box when I got mine. So I personally don't care. As long as it does the job I need for it to do, im happen. Small places just doesn't have the means to have room and have to resort in using the bathrooms.

Im not paranoid like some of you guys. But as the saying goes, "To each their own".

Yeah, I mean people were complaining at my local MacDonald's about them keeping packaged burgers and buns in the toilet and I said the exact same thing!
  • 0
    Dark Arcanine Oct 1, 08
I wouldn't eat anything from McDonalds anyway, having food in the toilets wouldn't make a difference. xD

I'm not bothered too much as long as it's proper packaging and decent bathroom facilities, concerning video games consoles anyway. Just take one from the top of the stack.

Of course, anything extra you get from the purchase of such an item is a bonus.
