Konami recently announced the list of games they will be showing at this year's Tokyo Game Show, and one of them is an interesting -if not slightly odd- addition ... Metal Gear Solid 4.

Yes, you read corectly. A (new?) MGS4 trailer will be shown at the Tokyo Game Show.

Discuss in the Metal Gear Solid 4 forum

Konami has announced its TGS game plans, and we are posting them. Oh yes. Let's dive in:

World Soccer Winning Eleven 2009 (PS3, Xbox 360) Playable, Trailer
Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3) Trailer, Stage Event
Metal Gear Online (PS3) Playable, Trailer, Stage Event
Genso Suikoden Tierkreis (DS) Playable, Trailer, Stage Event
Tongari Boushi to Mahou no 365 nichi (DS) Playable, Trailer
Castlevania Judgement (Wii) Playable, Trailer, Stage Event
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (DS) Playable, Trailer, Stage Event
Silent Hill Homecoming (PS3, Xbox 360) Playable, Trailer
ChaoticEden (PC) Playable, Trailer

That's right, MGS4 is making yet another TGS appearance. How many times is that now? Lots, that's how many.

Hmm, I was going to suggest it was the extended online. That's listed separately though. Interesting.

Obviously someone who is not a fanboy wouldn't want a 360 port of MGS4 right?

Only a fanboy could want a great game to come to their system.

Haha, exactly. What's wrong with wondering if a game that's out of someone's reach (possibly due to financial reasons) could possibly come to a console that they own? But no, that makes them a fanboy, but when people were going haywire over FFXIII going multi-platform, that wasn't fanboy-ism at all. -_-

LOL! Yeh. Although I would rather it come to the 360 as well, so they can enjoy the game just as much as I did. Its a game which celebrates gaming in the artistic form; its sheer perfection in my eyes. Everyone should enjoy it.

I'd probably get it for my 360 as well If it ever did come out haha, which...it wont. Just speculation.

What I never understood is why some PS3 gamers say "MGS4 should port so everyone can enjoy it,", but 360 gamers are always on about "You will never getz mai Gearz and Mass Effectz!!!"

My point: MGS should never port EVAR. Besides, If exclusives all just multiplatformed, we wouldn't need three different consoles.

      Anyway, on topic...

Really? I always thought it was the reverse of that. I've heard no PS3 gamers say they'd love it if MGS4 was ported, if anything they've been more anti-port than 360 gamers. Fanboys cry that Gears won't and shouldn't port because MS owns the IP, that's about accurate, MGS? Pure third-party.

As is, MGS4 has happened, it's here, it's there. Good for it.

But MGS does port and it has done a few times in the past, why should this be any different when time and time again games have been porting from both 360 and PS3, games i must add fanboys from each side stated would never go multiplatform.

And guess what: both of those ports weren't all that successful. ANd as I mentioned in the MGS4 thread; MGS4 was a MASSIVE undertaking. Most people don't realize just how vast the MGS4 team really was; we're talking in excess of 200 people working at the same time. To make a port, and to have to completely rewrite the code of the game to a new platform, just isn't an endeavor Kojima wants to take after just finishing MGS4 for PS3.

Making a port is in no way as difficult as making the game itself, its not a "major undertaking" at all.

          Red 9 Oct 4, 08
Keep in mind I said MGS4 itself was a massive undertaking, not a port. Yes, a port would be easier since you're not having to design everything, but that doesn't mean making a port of a huge game is easy. PS3 code and 360 code is vastly different; that's why multiplatform games don't always release at the same time. It would still require considerable effort to port MGS4.

But the point really is, we all know MGS4 won't port. Even if Kojima is a sly devil, he made it very clear MGS4 was not goin anywhere.

Do you see/stereotype all 360 gamers like this, Red? I notice you said 'some' PS3 gamers, yet when you mention the 360 gamers, you didn't add in that key word, and claim that they are 'always' on about PS3 gamers not getting our exclusives. Where does this go on in the first place? Can't be Neoseeker to my knowledge.

          Red 9 Oct 4, 08
Outside of Neo, I NEVER hear any 360 gamers talking about letting other platforms enjoy their exclusives. The only time I've ever seen it happen was when AC6 went 360-exclusive, and that was only because PS2-360 owners were mystified by the sudden change.

Though I can imagine someone will find a case where they do, just to contradict me.

Oh I see. I don't mind some 360 exclusives going multiplatform, to be honest. If they can incorporate some system where PS3/360 gamers can take each-other on that'll be great. Then again, people may use the 'better controller' or some other excuse.

Maybe it's the rumored "alternate ending" set to happen six months after the game takes place?...well I can only dream...

That's the first thing that came to mind, but why would they spoil it at the show?

        Seeker X Oct 1, 08
Well not exactly spoiling anything maybe. It's just a trailer and all...maybe there's some new DLC that hasn't been announced. That's probably the only thing that makes sense.

It wouldn't really be a spoiler if they just state it exists and show like 2 minutes from it, in time honoured tradition i can see the video if exists being as long if not longer than the ending video of MGS4 so you know a trailer could be good.

LoL I dunno why either Red. I dont really feel anything towards any console. I play whatever console has the best game running on it at the time. I just think people OWE it to themselves to experience MGS4. Sadly, Im stigmatised as a fanboy if I show any favourtism. But yeh. Whatever goes.

Kill, they can play the game, when they buy a PS3. Its simple really. Kojima has stated countless times over and over MGS4 on the 360 is impossible. And since MGS has been with the Playstation brand since its beginning, it makes no sense to port it. Now im not one to say "sorry you can't experience it". But for god sakes, the PS3 barely has any exclusives, and this is the only one justifying purchasing the PS3, why port it? It makes no sense. Whether or not its third party is irrelevant. Its his title and it stays or goes whether Kojima wants it to or not.

    Killosity Oct 1, 08
I wasn't having this discussion in the mindset that there is the possibility for it to be ported. Yes, im Fully aware of the situation of the PS3 and its exclusive lineup, and that people will need to buy a PS3. I was merely wishing that people could experience it, and obviously buying a PS3 needs to occur before they can do so.

I was merely eluding to Red that I hate the crusader like antics people get upto defending a console. It is as if people have shares in the company to which their respective console was purchased.

      Final Blade Oct 1, 08
Maybe its cause they love the company and been a fan of theirs since the PS1? Remember Sony's been in the gaming industry a long time then MS, and knows what works and not. It could also be that they prefer their system and games. I for one am a fan of Sony's and been a Sony consumer for years. I love the controller, its simple yet affective for games. Im not comfortable with the 360's or xbox in general cause of how the buttons are place, and feels more for shooters. Thats not to say the system is bad, just isn't my taste.

Also it could be the fact they're trying to justify their console purchase. I mean if you look at everything, the 360 has more titles then the PS3 has, better online, and better Market place to the PSN. So of course they're going to defend a console knowing the 360 has some advantages the PS3 currently doesn't have. Its the same in anything, sports is a prime example.

Wait...Killosity, were you saying I was making crusader-like antics?

Anyway, why PS3 owners still need to boast about their PS3 to make their choice justified is something that isn't so necessary anymore. If PS3 owners can't be proud of their console by now, nothing will make them.

          That's a shame for PS3 owners then isn't it.

I was actually refering to owners globally Red9, not you.
If i have an issue with someone ill say it directly, not push an innuendo at their direction.

But yeh. PS3 owners are starting to get a plethora of fantastic titles, rivaling the 360 libary.

Yeh you make a lot of valid points there.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with supporting a console. If I had to support one of my 3 consoles to a greater extent, it would indeed be Sony and the Playstation brand, because I've had my entire gaming experience with them upto this generation.

I hate console bagging for the sake of console bagging. People hopping onto forums and whatnot and blatently mocking another console which they do not own. They google the console or check wikipedia and then make uninformed desicions from that. Annnoys me to no end.

The PS3's true intentions and powers will come to fruition over the next few years anyway. I expect an influx of sales from dedicated and furfilled PS2 owners who are willing to take the next step with Sony, knowing the 10-year-console-cycle policy Sony has.

I know what you meant. I'm just pointing out it'd be hard to type all that on accident.

Or, say if whomever typed the info were ignorant to their error(i.e. someone who's not a gamer and doesn't keep up with gaming news). Surely there would have been an editor who would have caught it.
