In a move that will probably set off a protest amongst longtime fans of the Diablo series, it looks like Blizzard will include a new death mechanic in Diablo III. Say goodbye to your town portal scrolls, too.

One of them most annoying parts about Diablo II was the death mechanic - every time you died, you had to run all the way back from town. Fortunately, things are going to be a little different for Diablo III.

I don't see why this would garner complaints. I personally hated having to run all the way back, but, there was a trick you could use to help prevent long runs back. Once you're in the dungeon throw up a town portal. If you die you just take your portal back and throw another one up.

Unfortunately there are people out there who will obviously complain about it. I think gamers are taking developers for granted. It's a privilege to play their games, not a right. As such people don't have the right to demand things from a developer. They're lucky the developers listen to them at all.

/agree - you will hear complaints, but those are from irrational Diablo fanboys with nothing better to do than *itch before even having a chance to experience the game.

Not if this ruins the games experience. For example how the recent SH, RE games turned out, many fans don't like it.

As long as Hardcore mode is Diablo III, I'm happy.

I'm glad the scrolls are gone and, honestly, the checkpoint system doesn't sound too bad. Collecting your gear was a bore!
