The new models of the Xbox 360 are using new and updated components, hopefully going to make the Red Ring of Death go away. The new 360s will have Jasper motherboards installed, which are small and put out less hear.

According to the Xbox 360 DVD Drive Database, it appears Xbox 360s outfitted with the much-anticipated Jasper chipset have finally started showing up in stores and at online retailers.

The key things to look for when buying a new Xbox 360 with the Jasper chipset is a manufacturing date (MFR) as early as 2008-08-06, Lot 8031 and up, and Team CSON. (You may have to bribe your local GameSpot salesperson to poke his or her finger through the serial number window of 360 box to inspect the manufacturing date.)

It was practically fixed when they put in the new falcon chip's.

Well, it's about time, and it's great that it's fixed. Unfortunately, the console's previous 3:1 chance of RRoD'ing won't be easily forgotten.

Not really. From what I've read before, the Falcon motherboard only decreased the size of the CPU, and most people believe it's actually the GPU that tends to overheat and cause the RRoD. The Jasper motherboards have smaller CPUs and GPUs than the original Xbox 360 model. I'm sure the Falcons helped a lot, but this should finally end the main cause of the RRoD, along with some other problems.

I agree with slumpy I haven't heard of any 360's with falcon boards getting RRod. But this should settle it once and for all.

Great to know that they "fixed" the RROD problem. It will be funny if it still does it or something worse happens.

I can't wait for this to just back-fire for some random reason and it gives everyone a RRoD.
