At the Nintendo Fall Press Conference today, Nintendo has just announced the Nintendo DSi, which is most likely the rumored new DS model that has made news earlier this week.
The unit's size has been reduced by 12% and 2.6 millimeters, and will also be without the GBA slot. The screens are also larger, with a .3 megapixel camera. The touch screen can edit photos, and the it will have better speakers and audio-playing function. Pitch and playback speed can be changed.
It will also feature a SD memory card slot and onboard memory, so it can be loaded with games, including downloadable games. Wii Points will be renamed Nintendo Points because of this.
A web browser is also built in, and there will be a Nintendo DS Shop, where Nintendo DS Ware can be downloaded. Four pricing categories: Free, 200, 500, 800. From DSi's release until March 2010, free 1000 Points with purchase.
The Nintendo DSi will release November 1st for 18900 yen ($180), with white and black color variations. There will also be a new Nintendo Zone service.

Mind = blown. But I'm keeping my rose lite.
I doubt I'll buy it because it's basically the DS... until a time where it has games I want which aren't on the DS for whatever reason and the console is cheaper, then I'll buy it.
I knew I should've waited though when I got my DS Lite back in August...
Kudos to Nintendo for the creation of the Nintendo DSi.
Very nice update regardless!
Very interesting news. Mobile gaming seems to be improving exponentially. I feel so out of the loop
I might consider to buy one if my DS breaks or something, but only if the price isn't too high when compared to the regular DS Lite.
This looks pretty interesting. Not surprising since Nintendo is moving away from core gaming. Should be a hit in Japan.
Really want it.
Don't these type of things just make you wonder "What on Earth will be next?"
Good thing I never bought a Lite. Holding out for this baby.
Anyway it seems to me the DS lite is so much better, according to avalith. I mean not supporting the GBA games on this new version is a kick in the face to all the fans. I mean they did say they was going to back it up.
Oh, and Twilight... you can trade from another DS, right?
