At the Nintendo Fall Press Conference today, Nintendo has just announced the Nintendo DSi, which is most likely the rumored new DS model that has made news earlier this week.

The unit's size has been reduced by 12% and 2.6 millimeters, and will also be without the GBA slot. The screens are also larger, with a .3 megapixel camera. The touch screen can edit photos, and the it will have better speakers and audio-playing function. Pitch and playback speed can be changed.

It will also feature a SD memory card slot and onboard memory, so it can be loaded with games, including downloadable games. Wii Points will be renamed Nintendo Points because of this.

A web browser is also built in, and there will be a Nintendo DS Shop, where Nintendo DS Ware can be downloaded. Four pricing categories: Free, 200, 500, 800. From DSi's release until March 2010, free 1000 Points with purchase.

The Nintendo DSi will release November 1st for 18900 yen ($180), with white and black color variations. There will also be a new Nintendo Zone service.

More info as it appears.

Mind = blown. I'll say it again:

Mind = blown. But I'm keeping my rose lite.

Well it seems Nintendo has produced what was rumoured. It has the photos features, the music playing feature including other little things.

I doubt I'll buy it because it's basically the DS... until a time where it has games I want which aren't on the DS for whatever reason and the console is cheaper, then I'll buy it.

From what I've read so far, it's just a more media-inclined DS with the final fading away of the GBA (despite Nintendo saying that the DS would stand alongside the GBA when the DS first came out). Some of my favorite handheld games were on the GBA. RIP Golden Sun.

I knew I should've waited though when I got my DS Lite back in August...

Haha you're telling me, Avalith. Only got my DS Lite a few months back, now this comes out...meh, I have way too many GBA games to do away with it. Just how are people supposed to play Guitar Hero on that thing?

My DS Lite broke a couple of weeks ago. This looks like a good replacement for it.

Nintendo has yet again, blown us away...

Kudos to Nintendo for the creation of the Nintendo DSi.

I only just bought a Nintendo DS a couple of months ago! Ah well, at least I can use my Rumble Pack on the Lite, doesn't look like there's space on this model... *clutches onto straws*

    Very nice update regardless!

It sucks that it won't be able to play GBA games anymore, but it sounds like a decent replacement to my old DS lite.

DSi? Why not go the next step and call it DSii to match the Wii?

Very interesting news. Mobile gaming seems to be improving exponentially. I feel so out of the loop

Meh. I really do not need any of the new functions that they are adding with this version. I think I'll keep my DS Lite, thank you very much.

I might consider to buy one if my DS breaks or something, but only if the price isn't too high when compared to the regular DS Lite.

I still need to still my DS brick, I don't even play the damn thing anymore. >_>

This looks pretty interesting. Not surprising since Nintendo is moving away from core gaming. Should be a hit in Japan.

It has two cameras and according to Engadget the external one is a three megapixel camera.

I thought it was just the one 0.3 megapixel camera (640x480 VGA).

I gotta admit, it does sound good. But I really don't like that with every new DS they make they reduce the size, it's just awkward to hold. An SD slot and a built in web browser are very good ideas that I believe will catch on, but the 0.3 MP camera... there's no point.
Don't these type of things just make you wonder "What on Earth will be next?"

I'm presuming this is still in the seventh generation of gaming, in which case I am extremely angry. Stop making remakes of the same damned console and think of a new console. I can understand that you want to milk the DS bone-dry, but damn.

The built in Web Browser and SD slot are really the only two things that interest me. The camera is cool too, but I'm really excited for DSware.

Good thing I never bought a Lite. Holding out for this baby.

Haha, funny how some of you are saying "Nintendo blown us away again" as if this is anything new. Its just the same thing the PSP is packing, only difference is it doesn't have a built in camera(standard I mean) or a picture editor. Sorry nothing really to be blown away about. Not saying it isn't a good DS, its just isn't that mind blowing. Ohai Reenee

Anyway it seems to me the DS lite is so much better, according to avalith. I mean not supporting the GBA games on this new version is a kick in the face to all the fans. I mean they did say they was going to back it up.

Problem rising through this. For Pokemon Diamond and Pearl owners, how does Nintendo expect them to migrate pokemon?

This is really fascinating to see that this item includes a built-in camera. Awesome!

Oh, and Twilight... you can trade from another DS, right?
