Nintendo DSi won't arrive in North America until "well into" 2009

If you were holding out some faint hope of getting your hands on that new fangled Nintendo DSi this year, shortly after Japan's November launch, you're out of luck. According to Wired's Liveblog from the floor of the Nintendo Fall Press Conference 2008, it won't arrive until "well into" 2009. Guess that means not at least until springtime.

9:19: As far as 2008 is concerned, the DSi story is strictly Japan-related. We will not see the product in North America until "well into" 2009, because there's still "huge demand"

    I'd try to import, but there's no way I'm going to be able to get one with the way the DS Lite launch went in Japan.

    Oh well, gives me time to save up some cash.

    The U.S. price is about $165-185 but I may be wrong.

    Oh man, that sucks. I was hoping that they would release it in the US on Christmas or something, but I guess I'll just have continue playing my DS Lite for the time being.

    I like the price though.

    I don't see Nintendo launching a system any time but the holiday season, it just doesn't happen. There is a hate growing bigger inside against Nintendo!

    I presume this means that the next handheld system will be delayed until at least some time in late 2010. Damn it, I don't want to remember my video game induced childhood with only two consoles.
