It seems EA saw the fight against breast cancer which Nintendo launched earlier last month.

Rather than using a console though they're using a game, Madden NFL 09. It's said to have been one of the best selling games of the year, so they feel it's time to give a little back to the community.

Lacking in originality, the limited edition version was given the name Madden NFL 09 Pink. It's only available from Target stores for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

They're doing this in partnership with Deanna Favre who not only made her own charity foundation but was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004 (and managed to beat it) and is the husband of the player on the cover, Brett Favre.

"EA is honored to team up with Deanna Favre and Target in the fight against breast cancer," says senior product manager, Anthony Stevenson. "Almost everyone has been affected by this disease in some way, so we're eager to give our passionate fans an opportunity to participate in finding a cure."

Makes sense that she's promoting a game with the cover of her man on it. Sadly its the wrong sports team though.

I wouldn't know but thank you for giving me a laugh. xD

I think it's a nice thing to do, but I think maybe the wrong time. I mean Nintendo only just announced that Nintendo DS Lite with the pink ribbon. It just feels like they're stealing their idea, despite the fact it all makes sense and is for a great cause and it all fits together like a jigsaw.

    This amused me.

May be a 'stolen' idea but who cares, it's for a good cause.

Oh yeah I know that, I just meant that... it's the right time for it because of sales, but a shame they couldn't do it later so as to look like they aren't just taking a ride on that train Nintendo is driving.
