Well not exactly in the way we expected.

It will share the market with the PSP and the DS, however not necessarily in the gaming field as much as the portable media industry.

Sega expects to release Vision sometime in 2009 - it will function as a portable TV, movie player, camera, and eBook reader.

No word on any plans for gaming just yet.

Check out the video in the source if you like.

The PMP is to be called the Sega Vision and itÂ’ll work as a videogames machine, in addition to playing films. The unit will feature an integrated camera for capturing still images and video. A built-in TV tuner will provide yet another form of entertainment.

All apart of their big wonderful scheme, I say. Start small, then BAM, new console. They're aching for it, I think. Yay Sega.

Yay! The return of sega consoles!
I hope that it be as or more powerful than an iphone. Much better idea than a DSi. But regardless if it has games, and I pretty sure it will, I think it's an awesome idea!

No more Sonic DS games? SEGA don't make me choose between Sonic or Nintendo because you just can't win.

I took a great liking to Sonic after Battle Adventure 2 and DX and Rush but compared to Nintendo's stuff Sonic can't win.

Its not a console, Its just a normal "Jack of all trades" Device.

They even made a statement saying that this ISNT an entry into the gaming market and that they have NO plans to make this a gaming console whatsoever.

Haha, brilliance. Hopefully it won't have the same fate as "the other" 9/9/99 console.

Sonic Adventure was great. Also, there is a big part that says Games on there with a Yellow Analog stick. I wonder what that could mean. None the less, good idea to try and bring a whole TV onto a system...*Cough*Crappy Quality*Cough*

This is the moment all of us old Sega fans have been waiting for.

Their Revival. Like a Phoenix from the ashes, they have come back, to whoop Nintendo's ass once and for all.

    ....with what games exactly?

They could revive some good old franchises like Jet Set Radio, Space Channel 5, Shinobi, Altered Beast, Vectorman, Streets of Rage, and Virtua Cop, but then again, coming up with something new might be better.

They'll probably make a 2D Sonic. That will help sales for sure. If they make games for it.

This is all wishful thinking. I really do hope they have the software lineup to push this product.

I just thought I would link to the current Vision Discussion in Loungin' - in case anyone wants to take this to the forums instead of the comments.

      Who cares about that thread.

Anyway as I said there, it doesn't mean they're getting back into the console business, its primary function is similar to iPhone that CAN play some games.

      @iLL haha good one.
