In an interview that took place during the Toyko Game Show this year- Microsoft's GPM Aaron Greenberg denied the fact that Microsoft might integrate BluRay into the 360. Saying "We have no plans to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience" and knocking BluRay further when he said that "It's pretty clear it's not the next DVD."

Microsoft has once again poured cold water over the latest rumour that it’ll launch a Blu-ray Disc drive add-on for the Xbox 360.

A blogger going by the name of “Major Nelson” has posted an audio interview online with Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft’s Group Product Manager for the Xbox 360. In the interview, which took place at the Tokyo Game Show this week, Greenberg said: “We have no plans to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience.”

Earlier this week, it was rumoured that a joint venture between Samsung and Toshiba had been tasked with making the add-on drives for the console, which would be sold for between $100 and $150 (£51-87/€73-110).

I do agree that bluray is not as big as it should be. They are still to expensive both players and discs. Also with the new up-converting DVD players side by side you can barely tell the difference. Bluray is a decent storage solution but so is a portable hard drive with a terabyte of space and no worries of scratched discs.

What you fail to realize is while Blu-ray is capable of better graphics, its not the only thing its good for. Space = more content, more director cuts and deleted scenes placed in the discs, better sound quality and like games less compression.

Also like Blacklabel stated blu-ray has been selling faster then anyone thought it would be, so I think the BD is pretty big. Its still going to take several more years before it knocks DVD's out, but overall I think its doing exceptionally well.

Yeah they said the same about DVD, it's too expensive now look at it and to be honest the inception rate of Blu-Ray is really fast far faster than anyone expected. Insiders were expecting Blu-Ray to still be battling HD-DVD well into 2010 yet it killed that off in 2008 and took a pretty large margin of DVD sales, the format has only been around a year and a half and it's doing that, Blu-Ray is storming.

I remember when VHS players were the new thing, and movies were going for $100 a pop.

Now, you can only find VHS tapes on ebay.

Blu-ray, like all technological advances, will one day become obsolete.
