The latest title in the Tom Clancy lineup of tactical shooters has been announced on Ubisoft's website. Endwar will be futuristic shooter developed at Ubisoft's Shanghai studios, and is billed as the first next-gen entry in the series.

Set on the battlefields of World War III, Tom Clancy’s EndWar will push the envelope of technology, showcasing artificial intelligence, graphics, physics and animations that were not possible prior to the launch of the new hardware systems. Tom Clancy’s EndWar has been built from the ground up as a revolutionary war strategy game solely for next-generation consoles.

A strategy game like no other, EndWar will allow gamers to lead their own armies against hundreds of others online in real global locations on the massive battlefields of World War III.

    Like futuristic battles haven't been put to death a million times already by Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and Splinter Cell. This is sounding an awful lot like Halo Wars, and commanding hundreds and hundreds of guys isn't really tactical, as far as the Tom Clancy games go.

    Haha, WWIII. I agree with Tiki Penguin here, though. Too many shooters are going Futuristic. We have that MMORPG Tabula Rasa or something for the PC in the near future, Halo, Lost Planet, and even Call of Duty is getting futuristic. Not a good idea to have them all do the same setting.
