Miss Razz | October 15, 2008 | News | Playstation 3 XBOX 360
Neoseeker's own Shuyin's Girl has translated the latest edition of Weekly Shonen Jump, which reveals the official name of Final Fantasy XIII's blonde character who the fans have dubbed "Mr 33cm" (due to the size of his feet).

You would never have guessed his real name, not in a million years.
His official name is ... Snow!

That would be cool, I think it fits perfectly. As he always seems present around ice and such.

So that female protagonist is Lightning, and this guy is Snow? Anyone else see a pattern here?

      quote
A squall is a sudden, sharp increase in wind speed which is usually associated with active weather, such as rain showers, thunderstorms, or heavy snow.
Ah, never knew it meant that.

Somehow, it just sort of fits.

We knew it would be a weather name, so I wasn't expecting anything OTT.

Lightning, Snow and Sera it is then.

Nomura named a guy Cloud. So I don't see how him naming a guy Snow is any different.

You're still missing the point. Snow-- it's one of those names that are more often given to girls, not guys.

You're also missing mine, Cloud is also a girlish name. Snow is also the same, but nevertheless both are one of those names that can be given to both genders. Like Jesse.

Cant say I actually like the name to be honest. But each to their own. :S

Are they naming characters after random objects like "Cloud"? I kinda like the name, but it just doesn't seem like a name. Other names for FF characters I could actually see being names, but Snow and Lightning? What next, Molten Lava?

As I said above, Nomura always names the (main) characters he designs after a weather term.

He has done for awhile now.

That's why all the main Final Fantasy characters starting with VII have weather terms as their names - Excluding IX which was Sakaguchi's work.

He looks the the "Balthier" of FFXIII. That is, that one character who just oozed class, style and brilliance. Kinda wanted his name to be a little more original but I guess, Snow is simplistic and it fits with his whole costume.
