Blizzard considers Battle.net better than any DRM since people will need the original copy to play the game in multiplayer. Also the report explains that attribute points will be assigned automatically, just like they are in WoW.

After so many years of painful anticipation, details about Diablo III start to pop up from everywhere and fans are delighted. However, not all news is good news (at least not for the more hardcore players).

No DRM = good, auto leveling = bad. Why can't it be an option, allowing for the hardcore or casual gamer to select if they want to have skills automatically assigned, like in Ultimate Alliance, like in the Spider-Man Web of Shadows. I hope this report about auto attributes is the result of only having partial information... ridiculous if true.

I actually agree with Blizzard. BNet is far superior to any DRM I've seen in any game. StarCraft and BNet...ah those were the days. It reminds me of MPlayer.

If Blizzard put enough effort into it BNet could be an industry commonplace like Steam. At least, it had the potential back in the day, not sure about now, though.

MPlayer, I still long for the days of Kali95 + Netmech 95 (MechWarrior 2 online component)... *sigh* Those were the days...

YES! MechWarrior 2 and MPlayer although, I think I spent more time in their lounge playing poker than I did playing MW2.

Do you mean like, turn Bnet into an online store type thing? I think it's fine the way it is.

Not as a store but a service to manage online playing on dedicated servers for even non-Blizzard games.

I'd prefer it staying as a Blizzard-only thing. But if anyone stands a chance at trying to compete with Steam, it'd be Blizzard, if they wanted to.

Automatically assigning attribute points is beyond *bleep*ing lame. I'm seriously.

I'm with Armed Rebel, along with the skill choices the attributes are what made combat online so diverse.

Yep, it's bullshit. Some of the more exotic builds required control over attribute points, like the Enchantress. So much for those ones anymore.
