One of the interesting things about living in NYC are the small independently owned retail outlets that occasionally don't get the street date memo and release copies a little early. For those lucky enough to have a copy of LBP, know that you are holding a future collector's item, as I've received word that numerous outlets that are selling it are hiking up the price!

In case you didn’t get the memo from Kotaku today, Little Big Planet faces a worldwide recall for Quran references in one of the songs. Sad we live in this day and age, but it is just the dirty reality we have to accept. That said, a few of us here are truly lucky to have received a copy of the game ahead of time.

I thought about picking one up from ebay as well.......but $20 says they release a patch to zap the song anyway.

Yup, Media Molecule already have a patch ready for it. Originally MM wanted to simple release the patch on "Day 0" to get rid of it so that they didn't have any delays. However, Sony told them No, recall all the discs and do it all over again because some people don't have internet connectivity.

If that's your copy in the photos? If so lucky you, Daigoji! It should hold you over till Fallout 3. 11 days couldn't come sooner.

Yep, and I regret opening it, but my VP said do it so everyone knows it is legit and not some display box from EB or something...

The sad thing is I have absolutely NO TIME TO PLAY! Dead Space, Fallout 3, and Spider-Man: Web of Shadows has my PS3 on lockdown right now, with of course Fallout 3 taking priority. Can't say anything else about Fallout right now or I will be hanged, but soon I will speak....

Its not like its going to be worth much. Just a version of the game with the thing removed.

They will probably release a patch later on forcing you to get rid of it. I doubt you would be able to pass it on for much in the future.

Pretty much what I was going to say. Its not really a collectors item considering the fact that a patch will fix the problem for users who got the game early.

According to Sony's statement, they released a day 0 patch so if you want to play the game using the original disc, chances are the song won't be there anymore. Waste of money.

I reckon you're best bet would be to put it on eBay now. Can't see anyone caring in a couple of months time.

That is what some have done... I know those few retailers here in NY that broke street date have raised the price, so there will be some unsuspecting gamers caught with their pants down if that patch does remove the song.
