UK Flats Commemorate Lara Croft

tekmosis | April 25, 2007 | News | Misc
Now, what gets me is that these are usually done for "either a famous person who lived or worked in the building, or an event that occurred within the building". I wouldn't call Lara Croft either. But hey, it's their money so go for it! Congrats, Lara ;)
If you've been to the UK (or, you know...live there), you'd have seen some blue plaques on the buildings and streets. Since 1867 they've been "installed in publicly-visible locations on buildings to commemorate either a famous person who lived or worked in the building (or site) or an event that occurred within the building".

Relevance to us? Lara Croft's getting one. The site of the old Core offices where she was "born" are about to be turned into a block of flats, and once work is completed, a blue plaque will be placed on the building's walls.
