It seemed like this was only a PC problem. Its almost become common to find a PC game pirated on the web. But it seems like people are moving on to consoles. This image alone tells the whole story. Thousands of peers and people downloading the game, for the 360. Such a shame. Lets hope this doesn't move on to future games on consoles.

Microsoft need to sort this shit out as it's only happening on their platform, Sony seem to have it sorted due to large filesizes. So many games on the 360 these days have leaked and are being downloaded by thousands weeks before release it's pathetic.

I don't really understand how it works for consoles. Do people then just burn the downloaded game on an empty CD?

        Yes. What's not to understand?

No I was just a little confused because I didn't think the xbox would read a those kind of disc as a game disc.

Linkin, it should work because the Xbox uses normal DVDs doesn't it? So if you wack the data on the disk, chip your 360 you should be sorted.

Yes, the Xbox 360 uses normal DVD's... But with my *cough*experiences*cough* you need to have a modded Xbox to get it to work.

Shame on you Microsoft. SHAME. ON. YOU.

    redneonfish Oct 19, 08
Yes I think that's how it works, but you also need to chip your Xbox, like people did with the old PS1.

Its called a mod chip. Its a little computer chip that you physically put on the motherboard of the console. It would allow you to play pirated games.

it replaces the regular cpu chip?

No, just changes some things. I'm guessing it bypasses or adds 'authentication' to the reading of a pirated disk.

Mod chips were also used to play foreign disks (imports).

Wow, can you possibly be more retarded? People have been pirating console games ever since companies abandoned cartridges.

It's not as widespread for the Wii due to the fact that 90% of Wii owners are too young to know what a torrent is.. and as somebody mentioned, not many people are going to want to download a 30gb uncompressed PS3 game.

You're pretty damn gifted if you already created a chip for the PS3. Cause as far as I know, no one has done that yet. I might not know that far though. There are PS3 games on torrents, yes, but the fact that there is no way to chip your PS3 makes it pointless to download it. it.

You don't need a modchip.. a simple ISO image of the game running from the HDD would work.

Why torrent PS3 games when they're region free? It makes no sense.

For the same reason people torrent 360 games. It's incredibly cheap.

I don't believe this will hurt sales very much, and it's never going to get to PSPs level either. There is just too much work and risk for most people to install a mod chip in a 360. But Microsoft should do what Nintendo did with the Wii and cover the area the mod chip is put with epoxy, that might slow down or stop some people.

two decades ago. and isn't it ironic how their console and their handheld are both becoming the very problem that ruined the video game industry in the first place before they swooped in and rejuvenated it?

1980s - consoles are oversatured with crappy shovelware and people stop buying because all the games suck.

2008 - wii and nds are both oversaturated with crappy shovelware and all the games suck. but there's gimmicks tacked onto both of them, so people keep buying. at least for 2 months.

          they found the missing link.

Shame the peepz cant go on-line with the game because MS bans any modded console permanently from xbox live.

    They should use an epoxy.

But what CAN they do? Send the FBI in and arrest every pirate out there?

there are still undected methods of playing copied games.
