GameDaily is a video gaming site like any other from a casual view. Reviews, news and editorials all delivering information to the gaming community. However some recent shoddy reviews have left the staff in a sticky point indeed. In a recent a Socom: Confrontation review the game had a number of points raised against it, most notably a lack of quick weapon change and the inability to set a timer on a game. However a player of the game has come forth and attacked Robert Workman's facts. Having played the game and found both features present. This isn't the first time either, these guys have apparently stuffed up reviews for MGS4, LittleBigPlanet and just recently Fable 2. Not their arguments, but cold hard facts about the games.

The first is where the reviewer, Robert Workman, said, "Despite these modes, glitches ruin the fun. Constant freeze-ups force you to reset your PlayStation 3, there's no time limit on your matches and no ability to simply drop out if you're frustrated or tired of losing."

According to Sonarus, who has played the game several times since the release last week, that is simply inaccurate. "He claims games have no time limit but that is just false. You can set the time for each round and you can also set the amount of rounds you want to play. On average each round is about 10 minutes but i have seen shorter."

Another erronous point says, "Developer Slant Six made some changes for the better, including a bigger emphasis on team play (you can't win a match by yourself) and removing vehicles. However, manual weapon switching often leads to an early death in the heat of combat. For instance, if you have a rifle and need to throw a grenade, you'll need to take the time to actually pull out the grenade, rather than just tossing it. This small delay takes just enough time to turn the tide in a battle, leaving you vulnerable to enemy attack."

Wrong again, according to Sonarus. "You can push L1 to switch to your previous weapon," he said.

I gotta come to the defense of the reviewer ! Reviewing games for a living is tough. To really know you game you have to play it at least..what... 12 hours you'd say?

This tough for a guy with a full and busy life. Playing the games that you aren't that interested in can be really tedious. Reviewing games for a living is probably about only half as fun as many people would think it is.

But it's the guys job, he has to get stuff right, for sure -- I'm just saying cut'em slack, that's all.

Thats no excuse though. Its his job and should be making sure everything he's going to say in his review is in the game. Everyone has a life, some busier then others still doesn't mean we should cut him some slack. Get it right the first time or prepared to look like an idiot. Thats all im saying.
