It is unfortunate for fans in Germany, but the highly anticipated Gears of War 2 will be unavailable for purchase in your country, and the same may or may not happen in Japan.

Note- there has been no mention of an outright ban as of yet, but Microsoft has confirmed that they will not release product in Germany.

"We can confirm that Gears of War 2 will not be available in Germany or Japan indefinitely"

Update: Evidently this story is causing waves within Microsoft. A spokesperson has contacted us to "clarify" that "no announcement has been made" about plans for Gears of War 2 in Japan.
