Since the game was never given the chance for actual release, the pieces to the puzzle on why this game got canned in India fell together. Hindu's love cows. Fallout 3 doesn't. Microsoft doesn't want to offend.
As reported in an opinion piece here last week, Fallout 3, despite being schedule for release in India, got canceled. Sony obviously knew something about the game that Microsoft did not before deciding to release it there, and now we all know what that something is.
Cows.

I didn't realize the developers put mutated two-headed cows in the game.
But I understand why they stopped it, best not to deal with the bad press and controversy.
Yeah, I don't get it myself. It's being done in a game, shouldn't be much of a problem.
And when we look at the definition of it, you can see why they (India) 'could' take deep offense. It's not a song like in LBP, but the treatment and possible abuse of a "sacred object" . .which in their country, is tantamount to blasphemy . .
It's best to be cautious that not, especially when you're trying to establish a market for your product in a country for the first time - ie MS in India etc.
