Nintendo attempts to quell fears over the implausibility of ever finding a Wii console at retail at this rate, explaining to GamesIndustry.biz that it is trying its darndest to pump production numbers. The company is forecasting a global shipment of 14 million consoles before the end of this fiscal year, and to achieve this it will "ensure a steady flow of product through 2007".

"For the first three months of this year we have been producing one million hardware units per month. We are increasing the manufacturing capacity and forecast to ship 14 million in this fiscal year to our distributors and retail customers globally," the spokesperson said.

"We have put solid production plans in place to ensure a steady flow of product through 2007. We are constantly replenishing Wii supplies however with such high demand, stock is still flying off shelves so consumers should continue to be in touch with their local retailers to confirm when new stock is arriving."

Well it's nice that they are working hard at getting the console out. But they're right the Wii's just fly off the walls. My friend always tells me how when the shipment for Wii's come in they sell fast while they still have more than one PS3 in the back.
