World of Warcraft has just gotten over 11 million subscribers, and is the world's biggest and most played MMORPG for the PC. It was the game that sold the most copies in 2005, and in 2006, coming in second to an expansion pack of the game!

World of Warcraft's subscriber base is still heading skywards, having just surpassed 11 million.

Good on WoW! I used to play it for 2 months before leaving because it just got too time consuming. But I can appreciate the longevity and substance the WoW games have. 11 million is a lot!

What do you expect? It is WoW after all, and there is a lot to the Warcraft universe. Plus, how can you resist the Lich King! He's just so cool.

I'm surprised the number of users isn't going down now.

11 million subscribers =/= 11 million players. 11 million subscribers = how many accounts been made.

Actually, I think that 11 million subscribers = 11 million players. To be a subscriber you have to pay, and you wouldn't subscribe if you don't play.

11 Million subscribers doesn't really mean 11 million players, for example theres that guy who has like, 11 accounts or something and plays them all at the same time
11 Million Subscribers just means 11 Million accounts made and being paid for.

And as soon as WotLK hits shelves, that number will more than likely surge. World of Warcraft is amazing... and addictive.
