PS3 outsells the 360 in Q2.... Worldwide!

Despite the PS3's overpricing, amazingly, it has conquered sales yet again in Q2 worldwide, states Eurogamer. The Playstation 3 shifted 2.4 million units whereas the 360 only managed 2.2, this is no indication as to how Q3's sales for both consoles may turn out.

A comparison of Sony's corporate unit sales data and comments made by an investor relations spokesperson for Microsoft suggest that PlayStation 3 outsold Xbox 360 worldwide for the three months ending 30th September.

    Q2 is what a 4 month period in a year if thats the case then 2.4 million is not a very good sales figure, not when the console that has been out a year longer is still selling 2.2 million in the same period...

      Q2 is a 3 month period. There's four "Q" (Quarters) for each year, divided into 3 months.

      But you're right, especially after I just read the GG article that said Wii's were doing 2.4 million a MONTH!

      But I'm glad the PS3 is doing better. I have and love all three systems and everything, but I hate all the hate toward the PS3 stemming from it's lower sales. Glad that they are picking up. Hopefully they keep it up.

        The Wii is a completely different animal. And the PS3 and 360 are right on track with where they should be. Do you really expect the 360 to slow down that much just because it is a year older? The PS2 never slowed down, it just kept speeding up until it was replaced. That's how you sell 120 million units in 7 years. But you can't just expect the PS3 to take off and start outselling the 360 by millions of units. They will be doing great if they can outsell them by a million units a year. Or just 10 to 20 thousand a week.

          I don't know how anyone could put a negative spin on this. Things are only getting better for the PS3. The fact that PS3 is outselling a console that has already embedded itself firmly into the gaming market is quite a feat.

          And with the release of Resistance 2, LBP and eventually White Knight, there's nowehere to go but up.

      I disagree, I think this is very good sales, it wasn't like this a year ago thats for sure. Everything takes time and baby steps. As Koloth stated both PS3 and 360 are exactly where it should be as of now. 09 it might be a different story.

      If that's the price for a standard 360, what's the price for an Arcade? $50?

          Ok, thanks lol, I wasn't sure about that. Isn't the Arcade lacking something that makes it that cheap? Like a Hard Drive or Live service? I can't remember what it was. I know it was something, otherwise they couldn't sell it that cheap (so it's a little weird to advertise a version that is lacking something important).

          As far as i know, You have a 64mb memory unit instead of a HDD and wired controllers, and no Backwards capabilities

          Fiscal quarters aren't the same as annual quarters. This is Q3 of the fiscal year.

          Fiscal year:
          Q1 = April-June
          Q2 = July-Sep
          Q3 = Oct-Dec
          Q4 = Jan-march
