Sony to Remove PC based PSN Store

If I understand this correctly - you will now have to purchase things wirelessly using your PS3 (if you have one) or directly over the PSP PSN (with Firmware 5.00 or higher). Sony is effectively removing the ability of those who lack that capability to make purchases from the online store.

Is it just me, or does cutting out a portion of your userbase and preventing them from purchasing new products just not seem like a good idea.

If this is an incentive to drive people to purchase PS3s they are crazy. No one in their right mind will purchase a PS3 just so they can access the online store.

If this is in an effort to try to reduce piracy or homebrew- then it was a weak move by a company who has always respected the rights of their users. You think they would have learned after all the backlash against EA, Nintendo, and Microsoft...
Launching PlayStation Store on PSP required the old PC based PLAYSTATION®Store to be removed. Don't worry though; you're still able to access your download list and PlayStation Network account details.

The new PlayStation Store on PSP requires sufficient free space on your Memory Stick Duo in order to function correctly. Typically for a 500MB file you will require double the amount of free storage space, i.e. 1GB

I can't say that I agree.... I think the PC Store wasn't really that useful, and it's not like you need to get a PS3 to download these things, you can now do it straight from the PSP.

I guess what I don't understand is why you would need to purchase things from the store if you DON'T have a PS3 or PSP?????? The shows and movies weren't available until just recently anyway.

That being said, the PC store sucked and was a pain in the ass to navigate.

Oh and also, you don't need to use your PS3 wirelessly I have mine hardwired into my modem/router.

But to go from your PS3 to your PSP you would need to operate it wirelessly would you not?

The PSP needs to be wireless not your PS3 for that to happen. Remember if your PS3 is wired, then there's no worry over that its just PSP that needs to be wireless.

The PC store was useless anyway. There's no reason to have a PC store up if people don't have PSP or PS3 as it is. And if you did, then just use those to go to the store.

Nope. I plug my PSP directly into my PS3 when I'm moving content.....that was with the PSP content only being on the old store though. I haven't tried accessing the new PSP store yet.

I do wonder, for people who don't have a wireless connection, is it possible for PSP owners to download stuff through their PS3?

ya just connect them through a usb cord and access your wired connection. and if just dont have the internet then that's hardly sony's fault.
