So, what do you do if your Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 install code is 19 characters instead of 20?

Well according to the brilliant minds over at EA- they suggest you brute force your own game.

Yes, that's right. They want you to try to 'guess' the activation code by using every character ranging from A-Z and 0 -9.

Bravo EA, Bravo.

What can I do if my Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 install code is 19 characters instead of 20?

If you are trying to install Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 and the code is only 19 characters long, then it is missing the last letter or number. This was due to a misprint on a small number of manuals and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

There is currently a work around that may allow you to bypass this issue. Since you have the first 19 characters of the code already, you can basically try "guessing" the last character. To do this, simply enter your existing code, and then for the last character, try the letters A-Z, and then the numbers 0-9. You should eventually get the right combination, and be able to play the game.

Stupid, but it's only 36 characters. It wouldn't be that much of an annoyance.

I think I would get annoyed with having to go through 35 messages of "Your CD-Key is wrong". Especially if I went through all 36 only to notice that I put in a 4 instead of a 5 somewhere before. It would bite BADLY.

Yeah, but likely you'd hit it before many tries.

It's kinda something you just sigh and then deal with.

Yes but to be consistentely putting in random numbers just so you can play your game is wrong.

Especially if you accidentally skipped a no, which could easily happen to most people.

I want to input the code and play the game!

I DON'T want to be wasting my time putting in random numbers just so I can do it.

    It's not right. Honestly EA.......

    Why don't you ........

Do you have to retype the first 19 characters when guessing the last one? That would suck. At least you'd know your CD key by memory though!

Just out of curosity, but what else could they do for the folks with misprints who don't contact them? You can't "patch" a missing CD key problem without making a slew of other ones show up afterwards.

It's better than what I had to go through when I bought Half-Life 2. It didn't come with a CD key label on the back of the cd jacket. I had to go back to the store I got it and try to explain to the mouth breather behind the counter what a CD key was. Finally I just told them the disc didn't work.

That's actually pretty common, but it's a mistake in the production line.
