After everyone slagging it off, saying "no,no,no", Pete Hines has announced that the PS3 will be getting a well awaited trophy patch but there is no indication as of when apart from "it wont be soon."

he did confirm that the PS3 version will feature Trophies in the future. "It's going to happen, just not sure when," said Hines. "We'll let folks know when we have something more definitive."

Why? It can only be a good thing to add more content.

That's why services like LIVE and PSN are so great. If something's wrong with the game, devs can still make changes to make them better. Sort of like how MMOs are constantly being updated.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to alter a game after its release. It's good for the gamers, too.

I have one phrase that works quite well in this situation.
      "Better late than never".

I have to disagree with you Tek, and somewhat agree with Newcloud point. Lets say you buy the next Elder Scrolls and it doesn't have Trophy's at launch then you hit 30+ hours on the thing, only to find out two days later Trophy support will be released, how the hell are you going to feel about that? I would be very pissed to find out that I pretty much wasted 30+ hours only to find out trophy's coming in a few days and have to restart the game to get them. Thats why games like Fallout and SR2 I have yet to buy, I want the trophy support. I know I said I don't want to be a trophy whore but it builds to the replayability.

That would actually hold to truth if in one playthrough you can do everything; which you can't.

The Elder Scrolls/Fallout are incredibly detailed and you cannot by any means do it all on one playthrough. This game is MEANT to be played numerous times, because every choice you make can have a different outcome in another playthrough, and every type of character is different to play as. Not to mention that if the trophies are anything like the achievements, (which most of the time they are identical.) Then you have to play the game a minimum of 3 times to get them all.

Hell, I have over 10 character builds on Oblivion and have played through it on every character. For a combined total of well over 100 hours.

Not really the point. Sometimes you get trophies just for completing the first mission or something. And given the fact Trophies aren't retroactive, which means you literally have to restart a new game save in order to get trophies. Which is why Newcloud and me aren't happy.

Which you have to do anyways? Fallout 3 is WAY too big for just one playthrough. Unless you're gonna get bored with the game after you finish it once, you're gonna have to restart anyways. Secondly, it also works for those who don't have the game yet...so really, "Now or Never" is not an arguement.

Just incase you forget, in order to get trophies you have to make a new game save since your preexisted game save doesn't allow to get trophies. Its been like that for most PS3 games.

...you've never played Oblivion, have you?

What exactly do you think we're talking about? Plus I've been collecting a shitload of trophies for a lot of games, so I know what I'm talking about.

seeker X you dont get what he means you say you have to play through the game atlest 3 times each time to get different trophys while playing through the first time without trophys your going to have to do that all again thats 40-50 hours+ wasted

So...you're both denying any future Trophy opportunities for future (and present) owners because you don't feel like playing through a game without Trophies? In my opinion...that's pretty illogical and *bleep*ing selfish.

Personally, i think its great. Fallout 3 is great to play again and again, whatever the conditions.

People have been saying it won't have trophies because that's what the devs have been saying for months......so if anyone was slagging it off it was them.

Great news, sounds like they will be released right around the time it becomes a greatest hits title.....which will be perfect timing for me LMFAO

*bleep*...I have like more than 15 hours on Fallout, don't think I'm gonna restart for the Trophies.

This really shouldn't be a big deal...you literally can't do everything on one character anyway..I have 30 hours logged on my first character, 8 on my second, and about to start a new one.

Then again, I have it on the 360, so I never have to wait for things like this.

Seeker you still don't get it. Your original save before the trophy support will not be able to gain trophies. You must make a brand new game save file. GTA4, same thing. Burnout Paradise, same thing. Thats what im saying. I have Oblivion thank you, the GOTY, but you're still missing my point as usual. Thats what being retroactive means.

      Seeker X Nov 8, 08
How do you think you create new characters in Oblivion? Would it be by...creating a new file? I think so! Secondly, since they're not being retroactive, yeah too bad, I still don't see why they should NOT be implemented anyways.

        Final Blade Nov 8, 08
Actually my issues is the fact that they still can't add trophies in the beginning. While I understand what Newcloud was talking about and agree, I've already stated Im going to wait to buy this til Trophy support comes. Cause I want the best experience at the start of my first game.

          Seeker X Nov 8, 08
You don't even own the game yet...? What exactly was this all about then?

Like I said, there's really no reason for NOT implementing trophies. All of this was about dealing with inconvenience rather than an actual argument.

Well I was backing up Newcloud cause I understand his reason of being pissed and I wasn't happy either. But since Trophy's are being mandatory come 09, it doesn't matter much now.

Also, I don't know about you but I wasn't arguing. I was just stating my case and Newcloud why we're upset. Oh and I previously stated I didn't have to get yet, but will come tomorrow.

i wasnt really upset about it just a bit annoyed because i got the game the day before the article... i agree with you now that there going to be mandatory in january it shadows this game not having them

I got the game today, but I think I'll wait to pop in it until the trophies are available and then I'll make my 3 characters. This gives me time to do more LittleBigPlaneting anyways.

The trophy system has been in place for about 5 months now. If you don't know by now that most devs got their kits too late to implement trophies (why the *bleep* can't anyone spell trophies?), then I don't know what to say to you. Regardless, this can't be anything other than a good move. How can anyone say have them at launch or not at all? People went crazy when GTA IV got patched. Same with Uncharted, and do you know how many people want MGS4 to get trophies? If not for anything else, it shows that devs are willing to put in the extra work to support PS3. That is a good thing. And for those of you spouting false information as usual, you don't have to start a new save for trophies. It depends on the trophy requirement, which is inherently dependent on what you have already accomplished in the game. Don't like it? Don't play the game again. Trophies and Achievements are not mandatory. You can't say have them at launch or forget about it.
