Eurogamer reports that not only has the Rise of the Argonauts been delayed, but there will be no demo for those looking to get a quick taste of the game before diving in for a purchase.

Rise of the Argonauts takes place in Ancient Greece in the RPG genre. No reason was provided for this delay.

Codemasters has told Eurogamer that action role-playing game Rise of the Argonauts has slipped out of November. The plan, however, is still to launch before Christmas.

That leaves a rather small window in early December - in a Christmas period already stuffed with two of the biggest RPGs of this generation. No reason was given for the hold up.

The publisher also explained there will be no demo, as chopping the sprawling story into pieces for the sake of a 10 or 15 minute sampler would apparently not do the game justice.

Translation: Fable 2 and Fallout 3 have just released, so we're going to go and give the holiday season a go since we've got a bleak outlook here.

Memory serves, some big name RPGs coming out then too, so it'll be interesting to see how this game fares during the turbulent holiday gaming season.

The Argonauts followed a man named Jason as a group of sailors in ancient greece who were searching for the mythical golden fleece, which is the story line this game is based around.

The word "naut" literally means "sailor".

Heh, you really should really look into the poem Argonautica or the play, Medea - both deal with the myth of Jason and his mighty Argonauts... if that doesn't suit you, one of the great Ray Harryhausen film classics - Jason and the Argonauts, may serve as decent cliff notes.
