According to Activision's CEO, Mike Griffith, he expects the PS3 to out growth the 360 this year. While the 360 is expected to grow by 6-7 Million units by the end of the year, Sony's PS3 is expected to hit 8 Million. But as usual the Nintendo Wii console is expected to kill both by double sales to 15 million units. He also notes that the Handhelds will grow to 24 million units, though while he didn't really break it down PSP vs DS, we can pretty much assume DS is winning on that front.
While this doesn't mean much overall, it does show that Sony's George Foreman Grill...I mean PS3 is making its presence known and coming along strongly this year. And this means that PS3 is going to have a very good Christmas this year. :-)

While Nintendo continues to lead the pack, if you ask Activision Blizzard Sony's PS3 will see more growth than the Xbox 360 in the Western hemisphere during 2008. In the conference call following the publisher's third-quarter earnings, Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith provided the company's expectations for console hardware growth in North America and Europe combined.

Griffith said that while the Xbox 360 is expected to grow by an additional six to seven million units for this calendar year, Sony's PS3 should grow by eight million units. Neither the PS3 nor the 360 can stack up against the Wii, however, which continues to sell at a torrid pace. Griffith expects the Wii to grow by another 15 million units this year.

Your post alone reeks of idiocy. If none of you people have anything nice to say then please don't post.

Isn't negative feedback (provided it is constructive, which Red's wasn't) allowed?

I'm just saying that one: most of it is pure speculation, and two, the article creator makes the silly move of calling the PS3 a George Foreman Grill. How can I take it seriously?

This is gonna be a tight race between Microsoft and Sony! 2009 is a dealbreaker it seems; although im still looking to see how Microsoft will continue from here. To me, it seems to have peaked, and concluded such a peak with Gears of War 2.

You never know; they might, and probably do, have some clever trick up their sleeve.

The only thing this article has proven is the failure of the public school system.

I only clicked this article because I noticed "out Growth" used inappropriately in the title and wanted to correct it.

    EDIT It has been done.

I apologize for the mistakes, I didn't catch them when I previewed it, and at the time thought it sounded alright.
