There has been some concern about the length of this game. Some people are even deciding the purchase upon the length. Well EA has confirmed that the game will take about 12 hours to complete the story line for normal players. So how long is that for hardcore players? Hopefully there is more difficulties, and not to mention the time trail mode should add replay value.

In an interview, EA Dice producer Manuel Llanes revealed that for the average player, Mirror's Edge is about 12 hours long. So that's 12 hours of trying not to throw up.

Llanes explains that a lot of the game involves being skilled with the controls, and that the number of routes you can take throughout the game provides the replay value:

Hours upon hours is all good and well, but the simplicity of Mirror Edges key concepts means that 12 hours, in my opinion, is a fantastic length. This is an awesome article and it is good to know the length; it has certainly pushed me further towards the purchase. Thanks a lot Linkin Park Fan

12 hours? Oh yeah, this is a rental for me. This is another "weekender" (game I can finish over the weekend). There should be more developers like Bethesda...super long games ftw.

Thanks for explaining what a 'weekender' is. I would've been pretty hard pushed to work out what it meant otherwise.

    That's it twelve hours?

I read a couple of reviews for Dead Space while I was playing it, and they all said it would take 12-14 hours to beat on Normal. I beat it in 8 hours flat. I can probably beat this game in about the same time 8-9, maybe 10 hours. I'm not a normal gamer.

The length is good for a game like this. Any longer and it would probably feel like they were trying to stretch it out.

Not necessarily. There are some games that usually don't go on long enough. As long as they keep the gameplay fresh and they don't drastically change things at the end of the game, I don't see much of a problem.

Nah, most longer games are ridiculously drawn out but people don't care because that's what they play them for. How do they do it? They add RPG elements and call it a day.

Well you got games like Mass Effect and Fallout 3 which are RICH in gameplay. Then you get the Army of Two in which gameplay gets stale and obviously goes on for too long. Which is exactly why they need to keep the gameplay fresh and not be so repetitive.

12 hours sounds okay to me. To be honest, the main story of Fable 2 didn't take very long to complete either, but there's a crap load of side questing... and major replay value.

With LIVE and PSN, there's also the chance of DLC in the future as well.

    Darknet Nov 7, 08
I'm actually fine with that because I'm renting it. Maybe I can get through it in two playthroughs and get all the achievements in the amount of time I rented it.

Yeah this will be a for sure rent. But maybe if I like it enough, I'll consider buying. I'm more excited for Left 4 Dead coming out a week after it.

NO! You will not get to walk down the street sporting your extremely sexy Mirrors Edge bag! I certainly will.

Yeah thats one reason I really want the game as well. The way I see it, im paying 30 bucks for a game and 30 bucks for a bag. The bag better be god because if nots im just going to buy the game after im done with R2.
