Japanese maids ... They're everywhere, celebrating all types of weird and wonderful gaming culture in Japan.

So if you're ever in Japan and feeling lonely (and a little pathetic), maid establishment Ecri has the solution for you. You can hire a maid for around ¥6,000 (US$60) to role-play as any video-game or anime character of your choice. She will hang out with you, go shopping, anything you like! ... well, except for touching.

Shopping in Akihabara? Fun. Shopping in Akihabara with a role-playing maid? Funner. Maid establishment Ecri offers discerning Japanese otaku the chance to hire a maid to "role play" video game or anime characters while hanging out, grabbing lunch or shopping with your maid companion. The Akihabara-only service is ¥6,000 (US$60), and there are three options for your companion's outfit: maid, cosplay and civilian clothes.

They always look so cute. It makes money, so it's all good. No one's being exploited or anything yay.

It's not outright exploitation, but it sure says a lot about Japanese society.

      Where's the male-equivalent, eh?

If it's not "prostitution" then what's the point? How desperate do you have to be to pay for companionship? Some how I doubt that the real expectations are what is said on paper.

I know that technically hiring an escort in the US isn't "prostitution" either. But I think we all know the truh of that scenario and what the real expectations are. Or hiring a topless maid service. I'm not hiring them because they do a good job of cleaning up. Or going to a "massage parlor" not going there because of the relaxing back rub.

Sorry.....no fickie fickie, no money. I wouldn't pay some chick to hang out with me......that's what they make bars for. You pay hookers to get the business done and leave. Sometimes it's difficult to get the chicks from the bar to leave the next morning LMFAO

Uhh I think you guys missed the fact that she's a MAID. Like she'll come to your house and clean it.

A pretty useful service if you ask me.

Her looking cute and dressing up however you like is just a funny bonus.

No, the description is more akin to an escort. Maid services rarely spend time with you or go shopping with you. A maid service is there to clean your house get paid and move onto the next house. Unless they are a topless maid service, then they are there to look pretty half naked while pretending to clean your house.

This sounds more like someone to "spend time with", in the guise of a maid service.

Honestly though one of those Japanese maids from that picture would just sort of creep me out if she was giggling and cleaning my house.
