EA is fighting for 10 million dollars as two more class action suits are filed against them, both cases citing difficulties with computer use after games with the SecuROM software attached were used on their computer. GamePolitics report that both of the people filing these suits are doing so for five million dollars apiece because they feel the company is being deceptive and immoral by following damaging business practices.

This is after a slew of similar dissent over recent use of SecuROM flared up in the gaming industry in only the past few weeks.

The inclusion of undisclosed, secretly installed DRM protection measures with a program that was freely distributed constitutes a major violation of computer owners' absolute right to control what does and what does not get loaded onto their computers, and how their computers shall be used...

[SecuROM] cannot be completely uninstalled. Once installed it becomes a permanent part of the consumer's software portfolio...

EA's EULA for Spore Creature Creator Free Trial Edition makes utterly no mention of any Technical Protection Measures, DRM technology, or SecuROM whatsoever...

Sounds like these two would have a pretty damn good chance of winning. I hope they do and EA learns a lesson they should have learned by listening to their customers.

Yeah, one comment I heard about this piece of news is that if they can make Take Two pay out for the got coffee mod thing, than EA should be a little concerned over keeping their money in this case.

The worst thing for them is that anybody who truly has had problems and can prove it could easily sue EA for the same amount of cash. Times that by a horde of gamers and it kind of screams out "your screwed EA".

I find that comparison ridiculous though. I mean the Hot Coffee mod complaint was nothing sort of nonsensical garbage. It barely showed anything that would deem any sort of complaint. Fair enough the girl had no clothes, but it didn't show any parts. Big whoop you saw her boobs, which you can see from women wearing bikini's but there was no nipples showing(or the girls bottom parts) or CJ being naked with his tool out. I mean he was humping her with clothes on. It was comical if anything. I know you didn't make the comment, but everytime I hear about the hot coffee mod on SA I rage cause it was pitiful in the least and definitely that didn't warrant the game being AO, not to mention you had to input codes unlocking it. I doubt any regular SA fans knew about it without looking it up.

Anyway besides that, I agree with the article though.

You are nitpicking, Final Blade, to the point where you have wandered away from the point of the comparison entirely. They are only saying that it has become increasingly easy for gaming companies to lose cases in court and such, as evidenced by such cases as the hot coffee mod case.

Im not nitpicking, nor have I forgotten the comparison, im just stating my distaste for the hot coffee scandal which has pissed me off to no end since it has begun. Thats all, as I said before I agree with the article, its just that particular thing which got me angry. Also since I was replying to a particular statement to yours and not directly to the article as I am doing now, I don't agree with your comment.
